1. Indirect Radiohalogenation of Targeting Proteins : Labelling Chemistry and Biological Characterisation
Abstract : In about half of all newly diagnosed cancer cases, conventional treatment is not adequately curative, mainly due to the failure of conventional techniques to find and kill residual cells and metastases, which might consist of only a few malignant cells, without causing unacceptable complications to healthy tissue. To solve the problem a more selective delivery of cytotoxic substances to tumour cells is needed. READ MORE

2. Radiohalogenation of biomolecules : An experimental study on radiohalogen preparation, precursor synthesis, radiolabeling and biodistribution
Abstract : Radiohalogens are widely used in nuclear medicine, both as tool for diagnostic in vivo imaging and inradionuclide therapy. This study deals with the use of radiohalogens; separation, precursor synthesis, labeling and biological behavior. READ MORE

3. Astatine-211 and Iodine Conjugates: Radiohalogenation and Preclinical Pharmacokinetics for Targeted and Pretargeted Radioimmunotherapy
Abstract : Endoradiotherapy using labelled tumour specific-monoclonal antibodies in the therapy of malignant disease is a therapeutic modality that is coming of age. While clearly defined tumours can be treated with surgery and/or chemotherapy, occult metastases requires adjuvant systemic treatment, e.g. READ MORE

4. On the Use of 76Br-labelled Monoclonal Antibodies for PET : Preclinical Evaluation of Halogenated Antibodies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer
Abstract : Radioactive substances are used in vivo to localize and characterize malignant tumours, generally by scintigraphic methods. In this context positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) may provide a sensitive and specific method for detection of cancer. READ MORE

5. Carborane Derivatives for Nuclide Therapy and Imaging : Synthesis and Radio-labelling
Abstract : This thesis describes synthesis and radiohalogenation of closo-carborane and nido-carborate derivatives for application in nuclide therapy and imaging. The work could be divided in to four sections. READ MORE
