  1. 1. Stability and sorption capacity of montmorillonite colloids : Investigation of size fractional differences and effects of γ-irradiation

    Author : Karin Norrfors; Susanna Wold; Daniel Kaplan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; montmorillonite; colloids; size effect; γ-irradiation; sorption; colloid stability; radionuclides; montmorillonit; kolloider; storlekseffekt; γ-bestrålning; sorption; kollodial stabilitet; radionuklider; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Bentonite clay is intended to form one of the barriers in most repositories of spent nuclear fuel located in granite. One important function of the bentonite barrier is to retard transport of radionuclides in the event of waste canister failure. Bentonite has a high sorption capacity of cations and its main constituent is montmorillonite. READ MORE

  2. 2. Antibody Mediated Radionuclide Targeting of HER-2 for Cancer Diagnostics and Therapy : Preclinical Studies

    Author : Mikael Persson; Per-Uno Malmström; Vladimir Tolmachev; Jörgen Carlsson; Marion De Jong; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; Neoplasm Antibodies; Targeted Radiotherapy; Radionuclide Imaging; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) holds great promise for the treatment of cancer. In TRT, radioactive nuclides are delivered specifically to tumours by molecules that recognise and bind to structures overexpressed by, or specific to, cancer cells. READ MORE

  3. 3. Radionuclide Production with PET Cyclotrons, Applications and Preclinical Experiments

    Author : Jonathan Siikanen; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radionuclide production; Solid target; Water target; Cyclotron; PET; SPECT; 18F; 89Zr;

    Abstract : Nuclear medicine is based on the radiotracer principle of George de Hevesy and the magic bullet concept by Ehrlich and focuses on the diagnosis, the treatment of diseases and the investigation of normal states within the human body using radiopharmaceuticals. A radiopharmaceutical is an atom or a chemical compound in which one or several atoms are replaced with a radionuclide. READ MORE

  4. 4. A clinical positron emission tomography facility : 2-¹⁸FDG studies : development and results

    Author : Tomas G Ohlsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; head and neck cancer; monitoring therapy effect; quantification; normalization; 511 keV SPECT; rotating PET scanner; 2-[18-F]FDG; isotope production; 18-F; PET; positron emission tomography; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Ohlsson;

    Abstract : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a tracer technique used for quantitative in vivo studies of physiological and biochemical processes. Because of the use of positron-emitting radionuclides such as 11-C, 13-N, 15-O and 18-F, which are isotopes of the biologically ubiquitous elements, it is possible to label radiopharmaceuticals which trace biochemical processes precisely. 5. 5. Solar Activity Changes at the End of the Last Ice Age - Influences on Climate and Applications for Dating

    Author : Florian Adolphi; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar Activity; 10Be; 14C; radiocarbon calibration; time scale; geochronology; paleoclimate; ice cores; tree rings; IntCal; cosmogenic radionuclides;

    Abstract : Throughout its history Earth experienced a variety of natural climate changes. By investigating their spatial and temporal evolution we can increase the understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics underlying natural climate change and improve our general comprehension of the climate system.
