  1. 1. Parietal cell regeneration in rat gastric mucosal wounds : a quantitative light and electron microscopical study

    Author : Håkan Blom; Herbert Helander; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rat; gastric mucosa; gastric wounds; parietal cells; regeneration; pyloroplasty; truncal vagotomy; antrectomy; pentagastrin; cimetidine; carbacholine; stereology; light microscopy; electron microscopy; pH-studies;

    Abstract : The aims of the study were to obtain a method with which it would be possible to produce standardized wounds in the gastric mucosa, and to follow the regeneration of the acid producing parietal cells in those lesions during different experimental conditions. Quantitative methods applied to light and electron microscopy were used. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation of runaway electron generation during plasma shutdown by impurity injection

    Author : Tamás Fehér; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; disruption mitigation; fusion plasma physics; impurity injection; runaway electron; tokamak;

    Abstract : Disruptions are dangerous instabilities in tokamaks that should be avoided or mitigated. One possible disruption mitigation method is to inject impurities into the plasma to shut it down in a controlled way. Runaway Electrons (REs) can be generated after the plasma is cooled down bythe impurities and these electrons can damage the tokamak. READ MORE

  3. 3. The molecular biology of retinoid metabolism : identification of an 11-cis retinol dehydrogenase in the retinal pigment epithelium

    Author : András Simon; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : 11-cis retinol; 11-cis retinol dehydrogenase; chromophore; 11-cis retinaldehyde; 9-cis retinol; 9-cis retinol dehydrogenase; retinal pigment epithelium; vitamin A; short-chain alcohol dehydrogenase;

    Abstract : Vitamin A derivatives (retinoids) are essential molecules in the course of embryonic development, postnatal growth and adult physiology. The physiological functions of retinoids are thought to be mediated mainly by retinoic acid which regulates the expression of various genes, and 11-cis retinaldehyde, which is the common chromophore of visual pigments. 4. 4. Inducing large-scale diffusion of innovation : An integrated actor- and system-level approach

    Author : Ingrid Mignon; Anna Bergek; Johanna Nählinder; Volker Hoffmann; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Innovation; large-scale diffusion; adopters; actor; system; drivers; challenges; motives; strategies; policies; renewable electricity; technology; intermediaries;

    Abstract : In order for the innovation process to be successful, not only do innovations need to be developed and reached the market, but, once they are available for users, they have to spread on a large scale. In the innovation literature, a complete explanation is lacking of why some innovations reach a phase of large-scale diffusion faster than others, including both actor- and system-level components.
