  1. 1. Experimental and Modeling Studies of Sulfur-Based Reactions in Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SO3; acid dew-point; coal combustion; oxy-fuel; sulfur; flue gas recycle; corrosion; Carbon capture and storage; H2SO4; SO2;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion is a technology for CO2 capture that is suitable for large-scale, coal-fired power plants. In this system, the combustion air is replaced by a mixture of O2 and recycled flue gases, so as to enrich for CO2 in the flue gas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Catalyst Deactivation by Coke Formation in Acetylene Hydrogenation

    Author : Staffan Asplund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; preparative liquid chromatography; gross error detection; acetylene hydrogenation; coke deposition; coke formation; catalyst deactivation;

    Abstract : Several aspects of catalyst deactivation have been studied with reference toselective acetylene hydrogenation, a reaction used industrially to purify ethylene from unwanted acetylene. A mathematical model has been developed for an industrial packed-bed reactor, employing a supported Pd catalyst. READ MORE

  3. 3. A novel solar-driven system for two-step conversion of CO2 with ceria-based catalysts

    Author : Bo Wei; Reza Fakhrai; Torsten Fransson; Nader Jand; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO2 conversion; solar; ceria; thermogravimetric test; exergy analysis; simulink; fluidized bed; gas-solid flow; simulation; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Global warming is an unequivocal fact proved by the persistent rise of the average temperature of the earth. IPCC reported that scientists were more than 90 % certain that most of the global warming was caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHG) produced by human activities. READ MORE

  4. 4. Steam Cracking of Polyolefins in Fluidized Bed Systems: Influences of the Bed Materials on the Hydrogen Transfer Reactions

    Author : Chahat Mandviwala; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyolefins; Plastic waste; Steam Cracking; Hydrogen Transfer; Dual Fluidized Bed;

    Abstract : Plastic materials are crucial to the supply of everyday necessities, such as clothes, packaging, and building materials. Most plastic materials are disposed of after a short period of use due to their low cost of production. The linear use of plastics has resulted in high levels of plastic waste materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimization of Low-Level Controllers and High-Level Polymer Grade Changes

    Author : Per-Ola Larsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process control; PID control; robustness; noise sensitivity; dynamic optimization; polymerization; Modelica;

    Abstract : Two design problems at different levels in the control hierarchy are considered; optimization of robust low-level controllers with constrained control signal activity and optimization of economical high-level polyethylene grade changes. As for the first design problem, a constraint on control signal activity due to measurement noise is presented and used when optimizing and comparing PI/PID controllers with measurement filters of different orders.
