    Author : Arvid Larsson; Per Olof Holtz; Artur Zrenner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; semiconductor; optical properties; spin; transport; wetting layer; polarization; kvantprick; halvledare; optiska egenskaper; spin; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties. 2. 2. Spectroscopic studies of III-V semiconductors in two, one and zero dimensions

    Author : Dan Hessman; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; InAs-InP; low-dimensional structures; quantum wells; quantum dots; quantum wires; k.p calculations; type-II; photoluminescence; V grooves; Stranski Krastanow; single dot spectroscopy; GaAs-InP; III-V semiconductors; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Hessman; InAs-GaAs; GaInAs-InP; Halvledarfysik; InP-GaInP; Semiconductory physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, spectroscopic studies of quantum wells (QWs), quantum wires (QWRs) and quantum dots (QDs) in III-V semiconductors are presented. The electronic structure of these low-dimensional structures have been studied by absorption, photocurrent, electroreflectance, photoluminescence (PL), and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy. 3. 3. Technology and properties of InP-based photonic crystal structures and devices

    Author : Naeem Shahid; Srinivasan Anand; Rob W. vad der Heijden; KTH; []
    Keywords : Integrated optics materials; Photonic crystals; Planar waveguides; Dispersion; Band-gap; Mode-gap; mini-stopband; InP; Nanostructure fabrication; dry etching; mass transport; material reflow; reliability; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Photonic crystals (PhCs) are periodic dielectric structures that exhibit a photonic band gap; a range of wavelengths for which light propagation is forbidden. 2D PhCs exhibit most of the properties as their three dimension counterparts with a compatibility with standard semiconductor processing techniques such as epitaxial growth, electron beam lithography, Plasma deposition/etching and electromechanical lapping/polishing.
