1. The crown of Arsinoë II. The creation and development of an imagery of authority
Abstract : This study deals with a unique crown that was created for Queen Arsinoë II. The aim is to identify and understand the symbolism that is embedded in each pictorial detail that together form the crown and how this reflects the wearer’s socio-political and religious positions. READ MORE

2. Social scaling and children's graphic strategies : A comparative study of children's drawings in three cultures
Abstract : This cultural comparative study examines social scaling in children's drawings and whether children's formal graphic strategies follow the lines of traditional developmental stage models. Moreover, an attempt is made to develop methodological tools for comparative cultural research on children's social worlds. READ MORE

3. Association Phenomena Involving Hydrophobically Modified Polymers. Electrostatic and Hydrophobic Contributions
Abstract : The electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solutions of hydrophobically-modified water-soluble non-ionic or ionic polymers, their mixtures with a second polymer, nonionic or of opposite charge, and their mixtures with surfactants of opposite charge have been investigated. The relative strength of the electrostatic and hydrophobic contributions has been modulated by a variation of the polymer charge density and the solution pH, and by a variation in the degree and strength of the hydrophobic modifications, respectively. 4. Modeling lichen performance in relation to climate : scaling from thalli to landscapes
Abstract : Lichens can colonize nearly all terrestrial habitats on earth and are functionally important in many ecosystems. Being poikilohydric, their active growth periods are restricted to periods when the thallus is hydrated from atmospheric water sources, such as rain, fog and high relative humidity. READ MORE

5. Olfactory cues and insects - scaling relations and immigration rates
Abstract : For herbivorous insects, location of host plants and habitat patches strongly depend on the type of sensory cue that is used during the search process and the probability of detecting a patch depends on the relative attraction between patches of different size. The visual impression of a patch increases predictably with the patch diameter and consequently, immigration rates of visually searching insects are often predicted by the scaling to patch size of visual cues.
