1. The An-Archical State : Logics of Legitimacy in the Social Contract Tradition
Abstract : The modern state is today under great pressure. In the face of globalization, many theorists seek to rethink the boundaries of the state. They call for a transformation of the state from the national to the global level. But there is a deeper theoretical question at stake. READ MORE

2. Ultrasensitive Cold-Electron Bolometer
Abstract : The Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is an ultrasensitive device designed for the detection of cosmic microwave background radiation. The key to its sensitivity is the electron cooling of the absorber by the superconductor-insulator-normal metal (SIN) tunnel junction. READ MORE

3. Infrared Photodetectors based on Nanowire Arrays with Embedded Quantum Heterostructures
Abstract : Optical sensors operating in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum are key components in a variety ofapplications including optical communication, night vision, medical diagnosis, surveillance, and astronomy.Semiconductor nanowires have great potential for realizing broadband infrared photodetectors with excellentresponsivity, low dark current and low noise, and a unique compatibility with commercial silicon-based electronics. 4. Novel Terahertz Emitters and Detectors: InGaAs Slot Diodes and InAs Self-Switching Diodes
Abstract : Two novel types of diodes for emission and detection of THz radiation have been investigated. The diodes are based on high electron mobility III-V heterostructures. Both diodes are aimed for room-temperature operation, for which there is a demand for new THz technology. For emission, slot diodes based on an InGaAs heterostructure were studied. READ MORE

5. Facilitators of communication and the development of autism : From responsiveness to basic communicative cues, to emerging pragmatic language use
Abstract : When we communicate with others, we use a variety of abilities to facilitate and enable that communication. These abilities range from being responsive to others’ communicative cues to making one’s own communication more functional. Such facilitators of communication has been suggested as atypical in the development of autism. READ MORE
