1. System-in-a-Package on Low-Cost Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrate
Abstract : System-in-a-Package (SiP) is one of the most advanced approaches to meet the requirements for future high-density electronics packaging. In this thesis, a 3D system-in-a-package concept with embedded active and passive components is proposed, where a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) was used as the base substrate. READ MORE

2. Monocrystalline-Silicon Based RF MEMS Devices
Abstract : This thesis presents novel radio-frequency microelectromechanical (RF MEMS) devices, for microwave and millimeter wave applications, designed for process robustness and operational reliability using monocrystalline silicon as structural material. Two families of RF MEMS devices are proposed. READ MORE

3. Nanowire Transistors and RF Circuits for Low-Power Applications
Abstract : The background of this thesis is related to the steadily increasing demand of higher bandwidth and lower power consumption for transmitting data. The work aims at demonstrating how new types of structures, at the nanoscale, combined with what is referred to as exotic materials, can help benefit in electronics by lowering the consumed power, possibly by an order of magnitude, compared to the industry standard, silicon (Si), used today. 4. Active and Passive Unequally Spaced Reflect-Arrays and Elements of RF Integration Techniques
Abstract : Using an array synthesis tool based on a modified differential evolution algorithm, it is shown that the position-phase synthesis exhibits improved pattern characteristics compared to both the phase only and position only synthesis of uniform amplitude antenna arrays. The design of an unequally spaced planar reflect-array and an active power combining reflect-array are presented. READ MORE

5. Modelling, Analysis and Design of RF Mixed-Signal Mixer for Wireless Communications
Abstract : The explosive growth of the market for wirelesscommunications is driving low cost, highly integrated designsand complex RF/analog mixed-signal integrated circuit (RF AMSIC) products. RF transceiver application is one of the mostimportant wireless applications. READ MORE
