1. Effect of Dietary Antioxidants on Oxidative Stress, Inflammation and Metabolic Factors : Studies in Subjects with Overweight and with Type 2 Diabetes
Abstract : Observational studies have indicated that fruit and vegetables, and dietary antioxidants may play an important role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases, potentially by affecting pathogenic mechanisms such as oxidative stress and inflammation. Clinical trials investigating the effects of supplementation with single or a few antioxidants in high doses have, however, shown inconsistent results and thus have not been able to support the observational findings. 2. Role of oxidative stress response in radiosensitivity
Abstract : The quality of the ionizing radiation (IR) can be described in terms of its nature, photons or particles, and their corresponding energies. The energy is classified in terms of High or Low linear energy transfer that will produce a different distribution of DNA damage and other molecules in the cell either by direct action or indirect action. 3. Study of molecular mechanism(s) underlying neurodegeneration in SCA7 disease : Role of NOX enzymes and oxidative stress
Abstract : Spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 (SCA7) is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by a CAG trinucleotide expansion in the SCA7/ATXN7 gene resulting in progressive ataxia and retinal dystrophy. SCA7 belongs to a group of neurodegenerative disorders called polyglutamine (polyQ) diseases, that share the common feature of glutamine tract expansions within otherwise unrelated proteins. 5. Experimental and Clinical Studies of Oxidative Stress in Pre-Eclampsia
Abstract : Impaired placentation and oxidative stress are proposed to play major roles in the pathogenesis of pre-eclampsia (PE). It has recently been pointed out that PE might be more than one disease and may have several different pathogeneses. READ MORE
