1. On wear in rolling/sliding contacts
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to increase the understanding of wear in rolling/sliding contacts such as the wheel-rail contact for railroads and the roller-washer contact for roller bearings. The Stockholm commuter train network has been the subject of papers A and B in this thesis in which the wear and surface cracks on rails has been observed for a period of three years. READ MORE

2. Tribology of Rolling-Sliding Contacts under Mixed Lubrication : With focus on a Crankshaft Roller Bearing Application
Abstract : A continuous increase in environmental legislation to reduce CO2 emissions is forcing engineers and scientists to develop more efficient and durable mechanical components, i.e. bearings, crankshafts, gears, etc. READ MORE

3. Wheel-rail Interaction Analysis
Abstract : A general approach to numerically simulating wear in rollingand sliding contacts is presented in this thesis. A simulationscheme is developed that calculates the wear at a detailedlevel. READ MORE

4. The behaviour of antiwear additives in lubricated rolling-sliding contacts
Abstract : Traditionally rolling contact fatigue observed in bearing field applications was subsurface initiated. However, despite an improvement in the properties of steel, some factors such as downsizing in bearing design, extreme loading of bearings as well as demanding application conditions (start-stop cycles) have led to an increase in cases of surface damage related to surface initiated fatigue, which essentially comes from surface distress. 5. Elasto-hydrodynamic film formation in heavily loaded rolling-sliding contacts : Influence of surface topography on the transition between lubrication regimes
Abstract : To meet the stringent demands set on future gear transmissions, and to allow for manufacturers to make them more efficient and durable, it is essential to understand what mechanisms that govern their performance. This work was launched with the chief targets of establishing key competence in gear lubrication. READ MORE
