  1. 1. Structure-function relationships of the human Runx1 transcription factor

    Author : Magnus Wolf-Watz; KTH; []
    Keywords : Runx1; Runt domain; CBFâ; transcription; leukemia; protein structure; protein dynamics;

    Abstract : Runx transcription factors contain a DNA-binding andtransactivating α-subunit and a β-subunit (CBFβ)that serves to increase the DNA binding affinity of theα-subunit. The DNA binding domain of Runx proteins isnamed the Runt homology domain (RD) after its strong sequencehomology to theDrosophilaprotein Runt. READ MORE

  2. 2. The hematopoietic transcription factor RUNX1 : a structural view

    Author : Stefan Bäckström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; RUNX1; Runt domain; CBFβ; transcription factor; leukaemia; protein crystallography; anomalous diffraction; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The malfunction of the transcriptional regulator RUNX1 is the major cause of several variants of acute human leukemias and its normal function is to regulate the development of the blood system in concert with other transcriptional co-regulators. RUNX1 belongs to a conserved family of heterodimeric transcription factors that share a conserved DNA binding domain, the Runt domain (RD), named after the first member of this group – Runt - found in Drosophila melanogaster. 3. 3. NMR STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF TWO-DOMAIN PROTEINS

    Author : Houman Ghasriani; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Physical chemistry; Molekylär biofysik; CRISP-3; NMR; 3D-structure; NMR relaxation; Molecular biophysics; Prostate cancer; EGF module; PSP94; Beta-microseminoprotein; Protein S;

    Abstract : The general objective of the present thesis work was to examine 3-dimensional structure as well as the motional properties of two different types of two-domain proteins by solution-state NMR. One of the major tasks of this thesis work was to investigate the domain orientation of these molecules by employing residual dipolar couplings (RDC) which can be used as orientational restraints for increasing the accuracy of protein structures determined by NMR. 4. 4. The Jovian Plasma Dynamics and Composition Analyzer (JDC) for ESA's JUICE Mission

    Author : Philipp Wittmann; Martin Wieser; Stas Barabash; Krister Wiklund; Frédéric Allegrini; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; JUICE mission; positive ions; negative ions; electrons; time-of-flight; time-of-arrival; PEP; JDC; CEM; channel electron multiplier; pressure; instrument development; calibration; TOF; TOA; fysik; Physics; rymd- och plasmafysik; Space and Plasma Physics;

    Abstract : This dissertation covers the development and calibration of the Jovian plasma Dynamics and Composition analyzer (JDC). JDC is together with five other sensors a part of the Particle Environment Package (PEP), one of the payloads of the European Space Agency's JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) mission. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fibromodulin and chondroadherin in connective tissue homeostasis

    Author : Viveka Tillgren; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Collagen; integrin; cell surface proteoglycan; extracellular matrix; and small leucine-rich repeat proteoglycan.;

    Abstract : Connective tissue contains a prominent extracellular matrix (ECM), which provides for physiological and mechanical properties. Intra- and inter-molecular interactions between proteins in this ECM provide for the formation of molecular networks. These interactions determine the shape of the tissue as well as cell behavior.
