  1. 1. Acute achilles tendon rupture. Evaluation of treatment and complications

    Author : Katarina Nilsson-Helander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : achilles tendon rupture; re-rupture; ATRS; rupture; free flap; deep venous thrombosis; heel-rise work test; score; augmentation; movable brace;

    Abstract : The overall purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the treatment of patients with an acute Achilles tendon rupture with regard to complications, function and patient-reported outcome. Moreover, the purpose was to develop and evaluate new outcome measurements... READ MORE

  2. 2. On the treatment of Achilles tendon rupture. A prospective, randomised study of the results after surgical and non-surgical treatment

    Author : Michael Möller; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; rupture; score; prospective; randomised controlled trial; isokinetic; muscular endurance; magnetic resonance imaging; ultrasonography;

    Abstract : Only two prospective, randomised studies have been published on the outcome after treatment for Achilles tendon rupture. The controversy regarding the optimal treatment continues. In the present study, 112 patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture were randomised and all of them were followed up for two years. READ MORE

  3. 3. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. READ MORE

  4. 4. An Experimental Study on Micro-Hydrodynamics of Evaporating/Boiling Liquid Film

    Author : Shengjie Gong; Ma Weimin; Horst-Michael Prasser; KTH; []
    Keywords : liquid film; critical thickness; boiling; critical heat flux; rupture; dry spot; confocal optical sensor; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : Study of liquid film dynamics is of significant importance to the understanding and control of various industrial processes that involve spray cooling (condensation), heating (boiling), coating, cleaning and lubrication. For instance, the critical heat flux (CHF) of boiling heat transfer is one of the key parameters ensuring the efficiency and safety of nuclear power plants under both operational and accident conditions, which occurs as the liquid layers (microlayer and macrolayer) near the heater wall lose their integrity. 5. 5. On the long-term behaviour of tension loaded piles in natural soft soils

    Author : Jorge Yannie; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft clay; piles; creep rupture; rate dependent; tension load; long-term; field test; numerical model; uplift; creep of piles; installation;

    Abstract : The complexity and scale of new infrastructure projects have challenged the current geotechnical design practice. Urban areas are growing at a fast pace in the horizontal and vertical direction, with taller buildings and deeper underground constructions in already densely populated areas. READ MORE
