1. Innovative seismic imaging solutions : From hardrock mineral exploration to quick-clay site characterization
Abstract : Seismic methods are an efficient and powerful tool to explore the subsurface. It principally helps to gain information on the subsurface structure, bedrock topography, and the nature of the host rock. READ MORE

2. Seismic tomography : Algorithms and applications
Abstract : A preferred algorithm for seismic tomography needs to have capabilities including computational efficiency, minimal computer memory requirements, easy regularization and nonuniqueness analysis. In this thesis, regularised recursive least squares for seismic tomography is developed. READ MORE

3. Statistical Seismology Studies in Central America : b-value, seismic hazard and seismic quiescence
Abstract : The present thesis collects results of research applying theory and methods of statistical seismology to the seismicity of Central America, a region with a complex tectonic setting controlled by the interaction of four major plates, namely the Caribbean, Cocos, Nazca and North American plates.Three different earthquake catalogues were used for studies focused on stress in a tectonic volume, seismic hazard maps and seismicity patterns (precursors), covering the region 94ºW to 81ºW and 5ºN to 20ºN. 4. Characterization of the structure, stratigraphy and CO2 storage potential of the Swedish sector of the Baltic and Hanö Bay basins using seismic reflection methods
Abstract : An extensive multi-channel seismic dataset acquired between 1970 and 1990 by Oljeprospektering AB (OPAB) has recently been made available by the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU). This thesis summarizes four papers, which utilize this largely unpublished dataset to improve our understanding of the geology and CO2 storage capacity of the Baltic and Hanö Bay basins in southern Sweden. 5. Geological development of the East African coastal basin of Tanzania
Abstract : The East African coastal basin of Tanzania, which is characterised by an extensional tectonic style, is located along the passive continental margin of the western Indian Ocean. The present study is concerned with the Mafia Island and the Mafia Channel which together form a subbasin within the north-south elongated coastal sedimentary basin of Tanzania. READ MORE
