    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to analyse migration and socio-economic differentiation in rural and urban spaces: where people move, what the characteristics of migrants are and whether experiences of rural and urban space affect attitudes toward the local living environment and place attachment. The background consists of five themes discussing different aspects of socio-economic differentiation and selective migration, for example polarization and rural gentrification. READ MORE

  2. 2. The involvement of gangliosides in growth and migration of human glioblastoma cells

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Kristina Hedberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gangliosides synthesis; Ganglioside expression; Glioblastoma; Migration; Proliferation; Cell culture systems; Xenograft model;

    Abstract : Human glioblastoma is a primary brain tumour with a bad prognosis. One major contributing factor is that the tumour grows in an infiltrative way. Single tumour cells, undetectable with today's techniques, invade the brain and escape therapy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evolutionary dynamics of migration and breeding in wild birds: genetic architecture, sexual conflicts and evolutionary constraints

    University dissertation from Department of Biology, Lund University

    Author : Maja Tarka; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2012]

READ MORE

  4. 4. Islet constitutive nitric oxide synthase and nitric oxide production. Modulatory effects on insulin and glucagon secretion

    University dissertation from Björn Åkesson, Department of Pharmacology, Sölvegatan 10, S-223 62 LUND, Sweden

    Author : Björn Åkesson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; mouse; carbachol; muscarinic agonist; cyclic nucleotides; calcium-fluxes; NOS-inhibitors; in vitro and in vivo; insulin and glucagon secretion; Nitric oxide NO ; constitutive nitric oxide synthase cNOS ; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in the transduction signalling of insulin and glucagon release by stimulating or inhibiting islet endogenous NO-production as well as by using NO donors. Insulin release stimulated by L-arginine, the substrate for constitutive NO-synthase (cNOS)-catalyzed NO-production, was increased by the selective NOS-inhibitor NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) and suppressed by the intracellular NO donor hydroxylamine. 5. 5. Photon migration in tissue : laser induced fluorescence for cancer diagnostics and influence of optical properties on microvascular Doppler spectroscopy

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2002]

    Abstract : Laser induced flourescence (LIF) is an "optical biopsy" method, based on the selective accumulation of fluorophores in neoplastic tissue. Two recently developed, non-photosensitizing tumor seeking carotenoporphyrins were assessed regarding tumor selectivity, and biodistribution, in experimental animals. READ MORE
