1. Organic reactions in self-organized surfactant systems
Abstract : The aim of this work has been to investigate how microemulsions and micellar systems can be used as reaction media to overcome reactant incompatibility, enhance reaction rates and especially to control product composition, i.e., introducing regioselectivity, in organic synthesis. 2. A Self-Organized Fault Detection Method for Vehicle Fleets
Abstract : A fleet of commercial heavy-duty vehicles is a very interesting application arena for fault detection and predictive maintenance. With a highly digitized electronic system and hundreds of sensors mounted on-board a modern bus, a huge amount of data is generated from daily operations. READ MORE

3. Urban Growth Modeling Based on Land-use Changes and Road Network Expansion
Abstract : A city is considered as a complex system. It consists of numerous interactivesub-systems and is affected by diverse factors including governmental landpolicies, population growth, transportation infrastructure, and market behavior. READ MORE

4. Phenomenological modelling of sensory integration phenomena using self-organized feature maps
Abstract : The main contribution of the work presented herein is a method of transferring information from one lattice of artificial neural units to another. The essence of the present method consists of four parts: (1) the wrapping of the artificial neural lattice into a module that given an input to this lattice outputs normalized coordinates for the location of peak activity and the magnitude of the activity at that location; (2) the inter-module exchange of information being carried out by using the coordinates of the neuron that respond the strongest to the input given to the artificial neural lattice; (3) the concept of the transformation map which re-maps normalized coordinates from one module's output space on another's; and (4) fusion carried out by summation of activity fields induced by artificial neural lattices. 5. Femtosecond Laser Microfabrication of Glasses and 2D Materials for Photonics and Energy Storage
Abstract : Femtosecond laser-based fabrication technologies have seen rapid developments in the past decades, thanks to the capability of femtosecond lasers to induce localized multiphoton absorption in materials. Multiphoton absorption can result in various material modifications that can be leveraged for additive and subtractive manufacturing. READ MORE
