  1. 1. Capturing semi-automated decision making : the methodology of CASADEMA

    Author : Maria Nilsson; Tom Ziemke; Joeri van Laere; Tarja Susi; Amy Loutfi; Ann Bisantz; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Decision making; distributed cognition; human-computer interaction; semi-automated processes; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknologi; Datalogi; Computer and Systems Science; Teknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new methodology named CASADEMA (CApturing Semi-Automated DEcision MAking) which captures the interaction between humans and the technology they use to support their decision-making within the domain of Information Fusion. We are particularly interested in characterising the interaction between human decision makers and artefacts in semi-automated fusion processes. READ MORE

  2. 2. On design of complex safety critical automotive systems : a semi-automated approach for balancing profit and safety

    Author : Christian Grante; Matthew Cartmell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Design processes for complex safety-critical systems in the automotive industry need to evolve in order to address increasing demands for integration of car functions over common networked infrastructures. New processes must address cost and safety concerns, and at the same time maximize profit. READ MORE

  3. 3. Investigating polymorphism in small molecules using three-dimensional electron diffraction

    Author : Molly Lightowler; Xiaodong Zou; Hosea M. Nelson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D electron diffraction; structure determination; polymorphism; crystallisation; phase identification; small molecule; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : For scientific, regulatory and intellectual property reasons, the discovery and characterisation of polymorphic systems is an integral aspect of the development process of any solid-formulated drug product. Yet, these studies are often hindered by crystal quality and size, poor yields and the generation of mixtures of phases. READ MORE

  4. 4. NMR spectroscopy in structural and conformational analysis of bacterial polysaccharides

    Author : Carolina Fontana; Göran Widmalm; Sven Müller-Loennies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance; carbohydrates; O-antigen polysaccharide; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Carbohydrates constitute one of the three major classes of biomolecules found in all living cells and, unlike nucleic acids and proteins, their polymeric structures are not based on a template. The structural diversity of these molecules confers them an enormous capacity to encode information in biological systems, acting as efficient mediators in the interaction of the cell with the environment. Abstract : This thesis addresses the topic of grounding in human-robot interaction, that is, the process by which the human and robot can ensure mutual understanding. To explore this topic, the scenario of a robot holding a presentation to a human audience is used, where the robot has to process multimodal feedback from the human in order to adapt the presentation to the human's level of understanding.
