1. Optical Memories and Processing in Time- and Frequency Domain
Abstract : Spectral hole burning and photon echoes are the techniques for frequency-selective optical memories, which have the potential to increase areal data storage density by a factor 10**7. They also have the capability to perform in-memory data processing. READ MORE

2. A Database of Microwave Single Scattering Properties of Ice Hydrometeors
Abstract : Microwave remote sensing by satellites is important for global observations of ice hydrometeors. Interpretation of the measurements requires sufficiently accurate knowledge of hydrometeors’ interaction with photons, i.e. article scattering and absorption. READ MORE

3. Analysis of Arctic ice cloud properties using in-situ and remote sensing measurements
Abstract : Cirrus clouds play an important role in the radiation balance of the atmosphere as theycan have a warming and cooling effect. The resulting net radiation effect depends ontheir micro- and macrophysical properties such as particle size, shape, and numberconcentration. READ MORE

4. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems
Abstract : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 5. Measuring Water Droplets to Detect Atmospheric Icing
Abstract : This thesis describes the exploration of a method to measurethe droplet size and the concentration of atmospheric liquid water. The purpose is to find a cost effective technique to detect the conditions for icing on structures. READ MORE
