1. Platinum(II) and Palladium (II) Complexes with Group 14 and 15 Donor Ligands. Synthesis, Structure and Substitution Mechanisms
Abstract : The present thesis deals with Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with group 14 and 15 donor ligands. Such complexes have been prepared and investigated mainly with regard to their ground state structures and the mechanism according to which they undergo substitution. READ MORE

2. Synthesis of Organofluorine Compounds and Allenylboronic Acids - Applications Including Fluorine-18 Labelling
Abstract : This work is focused on two areas: the chemistry of organofluorine and organoboron compounds. In the first chapter, a copper-catalysed synthesis of tri- and tetrasubstituted allenylboronic acids is presented. Extension of the same method leads to allenylboronic esters. READ MORE

3. Development of New Methodology in Organic Synthesis: Lewis Acid-Mediated Rearrangements of Ammonium Ylides and Addition of 1, 3-bis(silyl) propenes to Aldehydes
Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of new methodologies in organicsynthesis. The main focus is on the development of Lewis acid-mediated [1,2]-rearrangements of ammonium ylides and the novel addition of 1,3-bis(silyl)propenes to carbonyl compounds. READ MORE

4. Stereoselective Nucleophilic Additions to Aldehydes and Development of New Methodology in Organic Synthesis
Abstract : This thesis is divided into four separate parts with nucleophilic addition to aldehydes as the common feature in three of them. The first part deals with the investigation of the stereochemical induction and elucidation of the factors that dictate the p-facial selectivities in Mukaiyama aldol addition to a- and a,b-heteroatom substituted aldehydes. 5. Palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization of alkenes under oxidative conditions
Abstract : The unique properties of high oxidation state palladium have been used to develop new catalytic alkene C-H functionalization reactions. A Heck-type coupling based on the reactivity of palladium catalysts and diaryliodonium salts has been developed with broad synthetic scope and tolerance for functional groups that are ordinarily reactive in Pd0/PdII catalysis, for example, allylic acetates and aryl bromides.
