1. Undrained shear strength in clay slopes - Influence of stress conditions. A model and field test study
Abstract : To counteract natural hazards such as landslides, current methods for evaluation of soil properties as a mean for determining the safety level of natural slopes need to be refined. The empirical relationships used for estimation of the undrained shear strength from piezocone and field vane test are based on the stress conditions valid for horizontal ground and normally consolidated or slightly overconsolidated soil. 2. FRP shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams
Abstract : The shear failure mechanisms of flexural reinforced concrete (RC) members is highly complex; its precise details cannot be explained with simple analytical relationships, and are the topic of considerable scientific debate. The studies described and examined the three most used shear theories in the world – the fixed angle truss model (45°TM), the variable angle truss model (VAT), and modified compression field theory (MCFT). 3. Nonlinear Numerical Simulations of Interactions Between Ice Rubble and Structure
Abstract : This research is focused on three distinct but interconnecting topics:1) investigation of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble, 2) material modelling of ice rubble, 3) numerical simulation of the interaction between ice rubble structure interaction. large scatter in the values of physical and mechanical properties of ice rubble can be seen in the literature due to non-standardised methods. 4. Pure shear fracture of brittle rock : a theoretical and laboratory study
Abstract : This doctoral thesis deals with determination of Mode II fracture toughness, KIIc, for rock. Three types of specimens, antisymmetric four-point bending, direct shearing and compression-shear specimens, are experimentally and numerically investigated. READ MORE

5. Modeling of Elasticity and Damping for Filled Elastomers
Abstract : Elasticity and damping are significant properties of rubber, taken advantage of in engineering applications. It is therefore important that the constitutive model accurately captures these aspects of the mechanical behavior. READ MORE
