  1. 1. A Particle Image Velocimetry Study of Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow

    Author : Xiaoyun Tu; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulent dispersion; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; turbulence; Rushton turbine; stirred tank; slip velocity; bubbly gas liquid two-phase flow; coherent structure; CCD camera; PIV; POD;

    Abstract : The aim of this work is to build a framework that can be used for characterizing the bubbly gas liquid turbulent flow in the stirred bioreactor tank. To this end we have developed and modified techniques with which to measure the velocity of both dispersed gas and carrier liquid phases by the optical measurement technique, a 2-CCD camera Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system; and to characterize the turbulence by the wavelets tool, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). 2. 2. Novel Technique to Improve High-Velocity Cold Compaction : Processing of Polymer Powders and Polymer-Based Nanocomposite High Performance Components

    Author : Bruska Azhdar; Bengt Stenberg; Leif Kari; Mikael Rigdahl; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymer powders; nanocomposites; high-velocity compaction; high-energy ball milling; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Compaction of polymer powders and polymer-based nanocomposites by uniaxial high-velocity cold compaction (HVC), by high-energy ball milling (HEBM) and using a novel technique, relaxation assists, was investigated with a focus on the process parameters, the compactibility characteristics, surface morphology and friction. The basic phenomena associated with HVC are explained and the general energy principle is introduced to explain the pull-out phenomenon, springback gradient, delay time, relative time of the pressure wave, and stick-slip phenomenon during the compaction process. 3. 3. µPIV Measurement of Grease Velocity Profiles

    Author : Jinxia Li; Henrik Åström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Lubricating grease is commonly applied to lubricate e.g. rolling bearings, seals and gears. Grease has some clear advantages over lubricating oil. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wet clutch tribology : friction characteristics in limited slip differentials

    Author : Rikard Mäki; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : In recent years, electronically controlled automotive transmission systems, where wet clutches are used as intelligent differentials, have appeared in the market. These applications impose great demands on the transmission fluids and friction materials used as well as on controllability and vibration preventive (anti-shudder) properties of the clutch systems. 5. 5. Rock grouting design: Rheological aspects and radial flow visualizations with ultrasound

    Author : John Shamu; Stefan Larsson; Ulf Håkansson; Liangchao Zou; Chadi El Mohtar; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cement grouts; grouting; yield stress fluid YSF ; thixotropy; critical shear rate; radial flow; wall slip; Bingham model; Cementbaserade injekteringsmedels; injektering; icke-Newtonska vätskors; tixotropi; kritisk deformationshastigheten; radiella strömning; glidning; Bingham modell; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Abstract : The rheological properties of cement-based grouts play a crucial role indetermining the final spread in grouted rock formations. In rheological terms,cement grouts are known to be complex time-dependent yield stress fluids,but their steady flow behavior is often described by the simple Binghamconstitutive law. READ MORE
