  2. 2. Domestic Heating with Solar Thermal : Studies of Technology in a Social Context and Social Components in Technical Studies

    Author : Magdalena Lundh; Ewa Wäckelgård; Jan-Erik Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar heating; solar energy; heating system; social components; market actors; interdisciplinary; heat storage; system solution; energy system; hot water; load profiles; socio-technical; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik; teknisk fysik med inriktningen mikrosystemteknik; engineering science with specialization in microsystems technology;

    Abstract : Research in solar heating has traditionally focused solely on increasing the system efficiency by improving the technical components. In this thesis the technical methodology and system boundaries are widened to connect the technical aspects with market actors that are highly influential on the implementation of solar technology. 3. 3. Borehole heat store design optimization

    Author : Bo Nordell; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : Seasonal heat storage, which is used to balance the supply of and demand for heat, e.g. in district heating networks, is necessary for the large-scale utilization of solar heat. The aim of this thesis was to study and develop seasonal heat storage to a point where it, if possible, would be an option in Swedish heating systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Condensation irrigation : simulations of heat and mass transfer

    Author : Jenny Lindblom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : There is a growing water demand in the world. Along with the deterioration of existing water supplies, the escalating world population leads to the assumption that two out of three people will lack sufficient freshwater by the year 2025. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems

    Author : Corey Blackman; Eva Thorin; Chris Bales; Christian Schweigler; Mälardalens universitet; []

    Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact.
