  1. 1. Magnesium ions stabilizing solid-state transition metal hydrides

    Author : Helen Blomqvist; Karl J Gross; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on hydrides containing first-row transition metal–hydrido complexes counterbalanced by magnesium. In particular, fundamental properties of the promising hydrogen storage material Mg2NiH4 have been studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Transition Metal Hydride Complexes and Hydrogenated Gallium Clusters : Synthesis and Structural Properties

    Author : Henrik Fahlquist; Dag Noréus; Maximilian Fichtner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal hydrides; Solid state Synthesis; X-ray diffraction; Neutron Scattering; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : Synthesis and structural characterisation of metal hydrides in two important systems are presented. The first system presented is low valent cobalt and nickel complex hydrides with the compositions BaMg5Co2H10, RbMg5CoNiH10, SrMg2CoH7and Sr4Mg4Co3H19 featuring nickel with oxidation state of 0 and cobalt with oxidation state +I and -I. 3. 3. Hydrogen incorporation in Zintl phases and transition metal oxides- new environments for the lightest element in solid state chemistry

    Author : Reji Nedum Kandathil; Ulrich Häussermann; Michael A. Hayward; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Zintl phases; metal hydrides; transition metal oxyhydrides; XRPD; NPD; Rietveld refinement; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis presents investigations of hydrogen incorporation in Zintl phases and transition metal oxides. Hydrogenous Zintl phases can serve as important model systems for fundamental studies of hydrogen-metal interactions, while at the same time hydrogen-induced chemical structure and physical property changes provide exciting prospects for materials science. 4. 4. Stabilisation of electron dense transition metal hydrogen complexes in the solid state

    Author : Malin Olofsson-Mårtensson; Donald E Linn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : The formation, structure and bonding in the solid state homoleptic palladium-hydrogen complexes; K2[PdIIH4], Li2[Pd0H2], Na2[Pd0H2], NaBa[Pd0H3], Sr2[Pd0H4] and Ba2[Pd0H4]have been studied by means of X-ray and neutron diffraction, infrared-, Raman-, and inelastic neutron spectroscopy.The results from these investigations combined with theoretical calculations have identified a new stabilisation model for electron dense transition metal hydrogen complexes which is described in this thesis.
