    Abstract : Aqueous solutions were studied using photoelectron and Auger spectroscopy, based on synchrotron radiation and a liquid micro-jet setup. By varying the photon energy in photoelectron spectra, we depth profiled an aqueous tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) solution. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure of solvated matal ions

    Author : Patric Lindqvist-Reis; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The structure of the solvated group 3 ions scandium(III),yttrium(III) and lanthanum(III), has been determined in aqueoussolution and in some oxygen donor solvents, and compared withthe hydrated group 13 ions gallium(III) and indium(III). Acombination of X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS), largeangle X-ray scattering (LAXS), crystallography and vibrationspectroscopy has been used for the structure studies of thehydrated ions and their dimethylsulfoxide andN,N´-dimethylpropylene urea solvates in solution and inthe solid state. 3. 3. Modelling and Simulation of Electro-catalysts for Green Energy : From Solvated Complexes to Solid-Liquid Interfaces

    Author : Jose Luis Lima de Jesus Silva; Moyses Araujo; Mårten Ahlquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catalysis; Hydrogen Evolution Reaction; Hybrid Structures; Ruthenium Complexes; XPS; OER; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have worked with solid-liquid interfaces, adsorbed molecules on the surface, and solvated complexes using Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations to find possible signatures that could help design suitable energy materials. More specifically, I have explored hybrid electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), XPS fingerprints of gas-phase melamine (monomer, dimer, trimer, and hexagonal packed arrangement), hexagonally packed melamine adsorbed on the Au(111) surface, and high-valence Ruthenium complexes along a reaction pathway in aqueous solution through a joint theory-experiment approach. 4. 4. Structural and Spectroscopic Studies of Solvated Metal Ions

    Author : Alireza Abbasi; Magnus Sandström; Ernö Brucher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coordination; Solvation; X-ray diffraction; EXAFS; IR; Raman; Normal coordinate analysis; trivalent metal ions; dmso; triflate; hydration; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Crystallographic and spectroscopic studies have been performed of structures, coordination and chemical bonding for series of trivalent metal ions solvated by two oxygen-coordinating solvents, water and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The hydrated scandium(III) and lanthanoid(III) ions, La to Lu, are surrounded by tricapped trigonal prisms of aqua ligands in the isomorphous series of trifluoromethanesulfonates, [M(H2O)n](CF3SO3)3.
