1. Effect of solvents during material treatment applications : tuning hydrophilicity of silicone rubber and drug loading in mesoporous silica
Abstract : Choosing the right solvent is critical for many industrial applications. A useful property for selection of solvents is their solubility parameters. This concept of solubility parameters is central to this thesis and has been used in two different case studies of material treatment applications. READ MORE

2. Organic solvents and cognitive functioning. With special reference to interaction with aging
Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to study cognitive functioning in patients with chronic toxic encephalopathy (CTE) and in aging workers previously exposed to organic solvents. The discriminative power of a series of cognitive tests in identifying patients with CTE was examined. READ MORE

3. Hybrid Solvents based on Ionic Liquids/Deep Eutectic Solvents for CO2 Separation : Experiments, Modeling, Process Simulation and Evaluation
Abstract : CO2 separation plays a vital role in reducing CO2 emissions to combat climate change, in which solvent-based absorption is widely considered the most promising technology. Many conventional chemical and physical solvents have been introduced for CO2 separation, still facing challenges. READ MORE

4. Solution Chemistry and Morphological Properties for Organic Solar Cells : Exploring Alternative Solvents Using Microgravity and Modelling as Tools
Abstract : Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have the advantage of the accessibility of energy for all, due to facile and low-cost processing, with its low energy payback time compared to other technologies, therefore promising applications. Research and development have led to power conversion efficiencies of nearly 20% and now catching up to their inorganic counterparts. READ MORE

5. On the occurrence and possible causes of motor neuron disease in Sweden
Abstract : A series of investigations have been performed to study secular trends of motor neuron disease (MND) morbidity and mortality in Sweden, to identify time and/or space clusters, if any, and to uncover risk factors. The occurrence of the disease was estimated from incidence, prevalence and mortality rates, and the strength of various determinants was evaluated by means of the case-control approach, using population controls.
