  1. 1. Unlocking the Potential of Brewer’s Spent Grain : Sustainable Biorefinery Approach and Value-Added Product Generation

    Author : Mohsen Parchami; Mohammad J Taherzadeh; Sudip Rakshit; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brewer s spent grain; Hydrothermal pretreatment; Organosolv pretreatment; Edible filamentous fungi; Anaerobic digestion; Biorefinery; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) constitutes 85% of brewing byproducts and 30% of initial malt. In 2021, BSG production reached approximately 37.2 million tons. Owing to its high moisture and nutritional content, BSG is prone to biological deterioration, causing environmental issues when discarded as waste. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dissolution of fluorite type surfaces as analogues of spent nuclear fuel : Production of suitable analogues and study the effect of surface orientation on dissolution

    Author : Jose Godinho; Sandra Piazolo; Tonci Balic-Zunic; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorite; spent nuclear fuel; crystal structure; CeO2; CaF2; crystal orientation; topography; confocal profilometry; Mineralogy; Mineralvetenskap; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : It is accepted worldwide that the best final solution for spent nuclear fuel is to bury it in deep geological repositories. Despite the physical and chemical barriers that are supposed to isolate the nuclear waste for at least 100.000 years, some uncertainty factors may cause underground water to get in contact with the nuclear waste. 3. 3. Machinability variations in alloy 718 turbine components

    Author : Pajazit Avdovic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; variation in tool; hardness; Machining; flank wear; notch wear; alloy 718; grain size; instability; variation in material;

    Abstract : Machinability Variations in Alloy 718 Turbine Components PAJAZIT AVDOVIC Department of Materials and Manufacturing TechnologyChalmers University of Technology AbstractAlloy 718 has a reputation for being very troublesome during the cutting process. It was suspected that this material was too hard and having too fine grain size and that these characteristics caused damage to cutting tools during processing. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluation of locally available feed resources for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Rwanda

    Author : Leon Niyibizi; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Aquaculture was introduced in Rwanda in the 1940s as an extensive pond-based system but the sector has gained in popularity during the past two decades, resulting in greater numbers of fish ponds and a corresponding increase in demand for quality fish feeds for sustainable aquaculture production. The aim of this thesis was to identify, sample and evaluate the nutritive value of some locally available feed ingredients that could be used by fish farmers producing Nile tilapia. READ MORE
