1. Nanospintronics with Molecular Magnets - Tunneling and Spin-Electric Coupling
Abstract : This dissertation investigates theoretically electric control of the magnetic properties of molecular magnets. Two classes of magnetic molecules are considered. The first class consists of molecules that are spin frustrated. READ MORE

2. Spin Dynamics and Magnetic Multilayers
Abstract : Theoretical studies based on first-principles theory are presented for a number of different magnetic systems. The first part of the thesis concerns spin dynamics and the second part concerns properties of magnetic multilayers. The theoretical treatment is based on electronic structure calculations performed by means of density functional theory. READ MORE

3. Spin-Spin and Spin-Orbit coupling studies of small species and magnetic system
Abstract : The spin of an electron often misleadingly interpreted as the classical rotationof a particle. The quantum spin distinguishes itself from classicalrotation by possessing quantized states and can be detected by its magneticmoment. The properties of spin and its collective behavior with otherfundamental properties are fascinating in basic sciences. READ MORE

4. First-principles theory of electrically-induced spin and orbital magnetization
Abstract : Spin-orbit torques (SOTs) have emerged recently as practical tools to control the magnetization in spintronic devices, but it is debated what the underlying fundamental processes are that enable fast and energy-efficient magnetization switching. In this thesis, we investigate theoretically possible means of controlling magnetization in magnetic materials and heterostructures. 5. Theoretical Studies of Two-Dimensional Magnetism and Chemical Bonding
Abstract : This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part we study thermodynamics of the two-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnet with dipolar interaction. This interaction breaks the conditions of the Mermin-Wagner theorem, resulting in a finite transition temperature. READ MORE
