  1. 1. MRI evaluation and image processing in gel dosimetry. A study of selected MRI properties and image processing in 3D gel dosimetry

    Author : Peter Magnusson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; image registering; multi-slice; slice profile; ferrous sulphate; polyacrylamide; 3D volume acquisition; RF field; B1 field; relaxation time; T1; T2; spin-echo; multi-spin-echo; stochastic noise; nonuniformity; SNR; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Gel dosimetry is a new dosimetry method applied in radiation therapy. Gel dosimeters consist of a radiation sensitive gel, which can integrate absorbed doses from several radiation sources or beams. The dose to the gel can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a procedure that is the focus of the present thesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for Diffusion Imaging Development and evaluation of spin-echo-based pulse sequences for in vivo studies of water self-diffusion

    Author : Sara Brockstedt; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; perfusion fraction; electrocardiographic triggering; segmented EPI SEPI ; echo-planar imaging EPI ; fast spin-echo FSE ; spin-echo SE ; navigator echoes; phase corrections; diffusion; Magnetic resonance; MRI; ischaemic stroke; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : The interest in diffusion imaging with nuclear magnetic resonance techniques has increased during the last few years. The main reason is the possibility of early diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke, at a time when conventional MR techniques and computerised tomography fail. READ MORE

  5. 5. Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Fluid Lipid Membranes

    Author : Erik G. Brandt; Olle Edholm; Mats Wallin; Markus Deserno; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biological fluid dynamics; biomembranes; hydrodynamics; lipid bilayers; molecular dynamics; neutron spin echo;

    Abstract : Lipid molecules form thin biological membranes that envelop all living cells, and behave as two-dimensional liquid sheets immersed in bulk water. The interactions of such biomembranes with their environment lay the foundation of a plethora of biological processes rooted in the mesoscopic domain - length scales of 1-1000 nm and time scales of 1-1000 ns.
