1. Conventional spiral and low-dose computed mandibular tomography for dental implant planning
Abstract : Absorbed doses to radiosensitive organs in the head and neck from pre-implant conventional hypocycloidal, conventional spiral and computed tomography (CT) were measured with thermoluminescent dosimeters in an anthropomorphic phantom head. From conventional tomography organ doses, except to the major salivary glands, were below 0.2 mGy. READ MORE

2. Tomosynthesis in pulmonary cystic fibrosis
Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate whether chest tomosynthesis might be used in pulmonary cystic fibrosis, to design and validate a tomosynthesis scoring system, and to determine the effective dose from chest tomosynthesis in children. In a prospective study starting in 2008 clinical chest radiography or computed tomography (CT) were supplemented with a tomosynthesis examination of the lungs. READ MORE

3. Non-destructive measurement of spiral grain with computed tomography
Abstract : Spiral grain is a wood feature that is formed in the living tree. Timbers sawn from trees with severe spiral grain have a great tendency to twist when the moisture content changes. This is a big problem in the wood products manufacturing process. READ MORE

4. Optimizing computed tomography : quality assurance, radiation dose and contrast media
Abstract : Computed tomography (CT) is an important modality in radiology; it enables imaging of the inside of patients without superimposed anatomy. The radiation dose and quality of a CT image are highly dependent on the CT scanner, the scan settings and, if applicable, the timing and dosage of the intravenous contrast media (CM). READ MORE

5. Effects of Deep Breathing Exercises after Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
Abstract : Deep breathing exercises are widely used in the postoperative care to prevent or reduce pulmonary complications, but no scientific evidence for the efficacy has been found after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. The aim of the thesis was to describe postoperative pulmonary function and to evaluate the efficacy of deep breathing exercises performed with or without a blow bottle device for positive expiratory pressure (PEP) 10 cmH2O or an inspiratory resistance-positive expiratory pressure (IR-PEP) mask with an inspiratory pressure of -5 cmH2O and an expiratory pressure of +10 to +15 cmH2O.
