1. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research
Abstract : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 2. Optical Diagnostics of Soot in Combusting Sprays
Abstract : Optical diagnostics in combusting diesel sprays were carried out in the Chalmers High Pressure, High Temperature (HP/HT) spray rig at conditions similar to those in an internal combustion engine, reaching up to 100 bar and 630 ◦ C. Spray development studies and combustion characterisation were done by high speed shadowgraphs that were digitally processed to measure the start of combustion, break-up, droplets and vapour penetration. 3. Pain in pediatric oncology : Diagnostics and treatment
Abstract : Pain treatment is a crucial aspect in the care of children with cancer and several studies demonstrate inefficient pain treatment. The general aims of the thesis were to identify the current pain problems in pediatric oncology, and to see whether specific interventions could improve the situation. READ MORE

4. Optical and laser diagnostics : The versatility of Imaging
Abstract : Optical and laser diagnostics is a field where optical techniques are developed that offer remote, non-intrusive measurements in order to characterise a system. Imaging is a big part of this field and the versatility it offers makes it a great tool in the hands of researchers and in practical applications. READ MORE

5. High Repetition Rate Laser Diagnostics for Combustion Applications
Abstract : High repetition rate laser diagnostics has proven to be a useful tool for studying combustion phenomena. Laser techniques are, in general, relatively non-intrusive and have the potential to measure specific species at very low concentrations and with extremely high temporal resolution. READ MORE
