1. The Chorda Tympani Nerve : Role in Taste Impairment in Middle Ear Disease and after Ear Surgery
Abstract : The chorda tympani nerve, also known as the taste nerve, runs uncovered through the middle ear cavity, a localization that exposes the nerve to pathological processes and surgical trauma in the middle ear. People operated on for otosclerosis tend to complain more about postoperative taste disturbances than those operated on for chronic otitis media. READ MORE

2. GDNF gene delivery in an animal model of Parkinson's disease. Long-term effects on intact, injured and transplanted dopamine neurons using lentiviral gene transfer
Abstract : Parkinson's disease is characterized by a progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, leading to a loss of dopamine in the target structure striatum and development of motor symptoms, such as bradykinesia, rigidity and tremor. New experimental treatment strategies for Parkinson's disease are aimed at either preventing the degeneration of the dopaminergic neurons, or at restoring dopamine in the striatum by fetal dopaminergic transplants. 3. Neuroprotective and regenerative actions of GDNF and neurturin on nigral dopamine neurons in rat models of Parkinson’s disease – Prospects for clinical use of neurotrophic factors in neurodegenerative disorders
Abstract : Parkinson’s disease is characterized by progressive degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopamine system, which results in tremor, rigidity, akinesia and postural abnormalities. New therapeutic strategies are aimed at halting the neurodegenerative process or restoring the system by transplantation of fetal dopamine neurons. READ MORE

4. End-to-side nerve repair - A study in the forelimb of the rat
Abstract : Nerve injuries have a profound impact on individuals, suffering for the patients and induce cost for society. When dealing with severe nerve injuries that create a gap between nerve segments or when the injury is at the brachial plexus level, the clinical alternatives are limited. READ MORE

5. Tumor angiogenesis. Regulation of mural cell recruitment and endothelial sprouting
Abstract : The formation of new blood vessels is an inherent part of many physiological and pathological processes. Currently, there is a strong hope pathological situations like stroke, diabetic retinopathy and cancer may be affected by pharmacological regulators of blood vessel formation. READ MORE
