1. Steam condensation in a water pool and its effect on thermal stratification and mixing
Abstract : The Pressure Suppression Pool (PSP) of a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) is a large heat sink designed to limit the containment pressure by condensing steam released from the primary coolant system. The development of thermal stratification is a safety concern since it leads to higher containment pressures than in completely mixed conditions, and can affect the performance of systems such as the emergency core cooling and containment spray, which the use PSP as a source of water. 2. Superheated Steam Drying of Wood Chips in Pneumatic Conveying Dryers
Abstract : This thesis contains a fundamental investigation of a pneumatic conveying dryer. The model presented can be used both for design and rating purposes and, although the main emphasis is put on the drying of wood chips in superheated steam, the results can be used for other systems as well. 3. Performance Analysis and Optimal Design of Heat Exchangers and Heat Exchanger Networks
Abstract : This thesis presents a study on performance analysis and optimal design of heat exchangers and heat exchanger networks. The study includes an experimental investigation of steam condensation in plate heat exchangers, optimal design of plate heat exchangers and plate-fin heat exchangers, and optimization of heat exchanger networks. 4. Theoretical investigation of water vapour condensation in presence of noncondensable gases
Abstract : Steam condensation phenomenon plays an important role in many industrial applications. Especially in energy sector this process requires deep understanding. When noncondensable gases are taken into consideration description of the entire phenomenon becomes more complicated. READ MORE

5. Hydrogen production from fossil fuels with carbon dioxide capture, using chemical-looping technologies
Abstract : Carbon capture and storage have been receiving increasing interest lately, mainly as an option to reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector. The concept could be adapted for production of H2 as well, which would provide a carbon free energy carrier that could be used for example as transportation fuel. READ MORE
