1. A study of mold flux entrapment and gas entrainment in an ingot casting process
Abstract : The focus of this work is to study the gas entrainment and mold flux entrapments during the ingot filling process based on physical and numerical modelling. The formation of the free surface was investigated in the uphill teeming method, which illustrates a dynamic change at a quasi-steady state. 2. Effect of swirling blade on flow pattern in nozzle for up-hill teeming
Abstract : The fluid flow in the mold during up-hill teeming is of great importance for the quality of the cast ingot and therefore the quality of the final steel products. At the early stage of the filling of an up-hill teeming mold, liquid steel enters, with high velocity, from the runner into the mold and the turbulence on the meniscus could lead to entrainment of mold flux. 3. Influence of microstructure on fatigue and ductility properties of tool steels
Abstract : Fatigue and ductility properties in various tool steels, produced by powder metallurgy, spray forming or conventionally ingot casting, have been analysed experimentally and successfully compared to developed models. The models are able to predict the fatigue limit and cause for fatigue fracture, and strain- and stress-development until fracture during the ductile fracture process respectively. READ MORE

4. On the shrinkage of metals and its effect in solidification processing
Abstract : The shrinkage during solidification of aluminium and iron based alloys has been studied experimentally and theoretically. The determined shrinkage behaviour has been used in theoretical evaluation of shrinkage related phenomena during solidification. Air gap formation was experimentally studied in cylindrical moulds.
