  1. 1. Understanding the Role of Molybdenum on the Precipitation in PH Stainless Steels

    Author : MARCUS ANDERSSON; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicon; Precipitation; ageing; EFTEM; molybdenum; atom probe.; martensitic PH stainless steel;

    Abstract : The main part of the present work concerns studies of the influence of molybdenum on the microstructure of martensitic PH stainless steels, during ageing at 475°C. A short investigation of the silicon impact has also been conducted. READ MORE

  2. 2. Material Solutions for Mitigating High Temperature Corrosion in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - Utilizing Novel FeCrAl Alloys and HVAF-sprayed Ni-based Coatings

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste; HVAF; High temperature corrosion; Biomass; FeCrAl alloys; Ni-based coatings; Silicon;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and electricity production is a promising alternative to fossil fuels and is thereby an important step towards a more sustainable future. However, due to substantial amounts of alkali- and chlorine-containing species as well as moisture in biomass and waste, the combustion of these results in a highly corrosive environment which accelerates the degradation of steel components in the boiler, drastically increasing the maintenance costs. 3. 3. On the Machinability of High Performance Tool Steels

    Author : Natalia Sandberg; Sture Hogmark; Jens Bergström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hot work tool steels; alloying composition; machinability; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : The continuous development of hot forming tool steels has resulted in steels with improved mechanical properties. A change in alloying composition, primarily a decreased silicon content, makes them tougher and more wear resistant at elevated temperatures. However, it is at the expense of their machinability. 5. 5. High Resolution Microanalysis of Creep Resistant 9-12% Chromium Steels

    Author : Lars Lundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; martensitic stainless steel; TEM; modified 12% chromium steel; creep resistant; atom-probe field-ion microscopy;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with detailed studies of the microstructure of 9-12% chromium steels. Three alloys with improved creep resistance have been studied in different stages of heat treatment and after creep testing. Two of them were manufactured using PM/HIP and were of the type 10.
