  1. 1. Order in Strongly Correlated Quasi-One-Dimensional Systems : Solving Higher-Dimensional Systems Combining Matrix-Product-State Methods and Mean-Field Theory

    Author : Gunnar Bollmark; Adrian Kantian; Annica M. Black-Schaffer; Fabian Heidrich-Meisner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; strongly correlated systems; matrix-product states; quasi-one-dimensional; Hubbard model; mean-field theory; first-principles calculations.; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Since their discovery the understanding of unconventional superconductors (USCs) has posed a great challenge in condensed matter physics. One central problem, both of theory and experiment, lies in determining the microscopic origin of electron pairing in such systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Strongly Correlated Moiré Materials

    Author : Ahmed Abouelkomsan; Emil Bergholtz; Vladimir Juričić; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Recent advances in materials science have established Moiré materials as a new highly tunable and versatile form of quantum matter. When two dimensional atomic layers are brought into proximity, a tiny relative twist or a slight lattice mismatch produces Moiré patterns manifested in a superlattice structure with a lattice constant that is much larger than the lattice constants of the constituent layers. 3. 3. Photoelectron spectroscopy on strongly correlated systems

    Author : Oscar Tjernberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This work presents photoelectron spectroscopy data on somestrongly correlated systems. The electronic structure of the3dtransition metal oxides NiO and CoO have been studiedwith angle resolved and resonant photoemission. In the lattercase, both NiO and CoO show strong resonance effects at themetal absorption edges. READ MORE

  4. 4. Antiferromagnets and Luttinger Liquids: Two Strongly Correlated Systems

    Author : Ann Mattsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Strongly correlated systems show a variety of intriguing properties and have been extensively studied over the years. In this thesis two strongly correlated systems are discussed: the two-dimensional antiferromagnet and the Luttinger liquid. The Luttinger liquid has attracted much interest as a paradigm of non-Fermi liquid behavior. READ MORE

  5. 5. Theoretical methods for the electronic structure and magnetism of strongly correlated materials

    Author : Inka L. M. Locht; Igor Di Marco; Silke Biermann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamical mean field theory DMFT ; Hubbard I approximation; strongly correlated systems; rare earths; lanthanides; photoemission spectra; ultrafast magnetization dynamics; analytic continuation; Padé approximant method; two-particle Green s functions; linear muffin tin orbitals LMTO ; density functional theory DFT ; cerium; stacking fault energy.; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In this work we study the interesting physics of the rare earths, and the microscopic state after ultrafast magnetization dynamics in iron. Moreover, this work covers the development, examination and application of several methods used in solid state physics. The first and the last part are related to strongly correlated electrons.
