  1. 1. Immunoglobulins, immunoglobulin subclass-distributions and serologic markers in some renal and systemic disorders

    Author : Gabriel Almroth; Jan Björklander; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunoglobulins; immunoglobulin-subclass distribution; hydralazine; ANCA; anti-:MPO; primary SjOgren s syndrome; hepatitis B vaccination; anti-HBssubclasses; immunoadsorption; plasmapheresis; antibodies; hepatitis C virus; transmission; recombinant immunoblot assay; hepatitis C genotype; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this study we evaluated pathogenetic factors and possible mediators of renal and systemic disorders where immunologic mechanisms might be of importance.An abberant immunoglobulin and IgG-subclass distribution was detected in 103 patients with primary and secondary glomerulonephritis as well as in 38 patients with the systemic disease primary Sjögren 's syndrome or purpura hypergammaglobulinemica (elevated IgG1 and low IgG2 ). 2. 2. Antibodies during pregnancy : Aspects on complications during pregnancy and complications related to transfusion

    Author : Miodrag Palfi; Olof Sjöberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Pregnancy; Thl; Th2; hernolytic disease of the newborn; anti-D; IgG subclasses; IgG transport; post-transfusion reactions; acute lung injury; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The fetus acquires half of its genetic infonnation from the father and represents a foreign graft in pregnancy. The overall mechanisms contributing to immunologic tolerance and successful pregancy still are an enigma. Accumulating results of immunologic research, however, offer an explanation for many events in pregnancy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Anti-D antibodies : In vitro tests to predict the severity of hemolytic disease of the newborn

    Author : Jan-Olof Hildén; Lennart Rydberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The ability of different in vitro tests to predict the severity of hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) has been studied. When properly performed the traditional indirect antiglobulin titers (IAT) on maternal serum can be used to identify a low !iter group ~32 in which the fetus will not suffer from severe hemolytic disease and a high titer group ~1000 where all newboms will be affected. 4. 4. Early Immunostimulatory Effects of IgE- and IgG Antibodies

    Author : Fredrik Hjelm; Birgitta Heyman; Sandra Kleinau; Robert Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunology; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Antigen presentation; B cells; T cells; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Antibodies have the ability to influence their own production in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the type of antigen and the subclass of the antibody, the outcome of feedback regulation can be complete suppression or several hundred-fold enhancement of the antibody response. 5. 5. Development of IgG subclass antibodies to allergens in early childhood

    Author : Maria C. Jenmalm; Örjan Strannegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background: Immune responses to allergens in young children include both Thl and Th2 like immunity, which may regulate the secretion of IgG subclass antibodies differently. The time, route and level of exposure to an allergen, as well as maternally transferred immunity, may be decisive whether sensitisation or tolerance will ensue. READ MORE
