  1. 1. Antenna Integrated Superconducting Mixers

    Author : Hans Ekström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tapered slotline antenna; mixer; double dipole antenna; superconducting; hot electron; receiver; Niobium; bolometer; trilayer junction; edge junction; Niobium Nitride; SIS;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the prospects of some different superconducting mixers integrated with planar antennas for the millimeter and submillimeter regime. Two kinds of Superconductor/Insulator/Superconductor (SIS) tunnel junctions for use in mixers have been fabricated; Nb/PbBi edge junctions and Nb trilayer junctions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Towards Gap Waveguide Array Antenna for Millimeter Wave Applications

    Author : Abbas Vosoogh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gap waveguide; Electric Discharge Machining EDM ; Artificial Magnetic Conductor AMC ; slot array antenna; low sidelobe; high effciency; millimeter wave; aperture efficiency; Bandpass filter BPF ;

    Abstract : The millimeter wave frequency range has got a lot of attention over the past few years because it contains unused frequency spectrum resources that are suitable for delivering Gbit/s end-user access in areas with high user density. Due to the limited output power that current RF active components can deliver in millimeter waves, antennas with the merits of low profile, high gain, high effciency and low cost are needed to compensate free space path loss and increase the communication distance for the emerging high data rate wireless systems. 3. 3. Antenna System Design for 5G and Beyond – A Modal Approach

    Author : Hanieh Aliakbari Abar; Kommunikationsteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; millimeter-wave antennas; MIMO system; Modal analysis; Substrate integrated waveguide antennas; terminal antennas;

    Abstract : Antennas are one of the key components that empower a new generation of wireless technologies, such as 5G and new radar systems. It has been shown that antenna design strategies based on modal theories represent a powerful systematic approach to design practical antenna systems with high performance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wideband Watt-Level Spatial Power-Combined Power Amplifier in SiGe BiCMOS Technology for Efficient mm-Wave Array Transmitters

    Author : Artem Roev; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; integration; spatial power combining; substrate integrated waveguide; array amplifiers; RFIC;

    Abstract : The continued demand for high-speed wireless communications is driving the development of integrated high-power transmitters at millimeter wave (mm-Wave) frequencies. Si-based technologies allow achieving a high level of integration but usually provide insufficient generated RF power to compensate for the increased propagation and material losses at mm-Wave bands due to the relatively low breakdown voltage of their devices. 5. 5. Characterisation and Modelling of Graphene FETs for Terahertz Mixers and Detectors

    Author : MICHAEL ANDERSSON; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
