  1. 1. Rheology of the mortar phase of concrete with crushed aggregate

    Author : Mikael Westerholm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : In Sweden, concrete has traditionally been manufactured with glaciofluvial deposits as fine aggregate. In 2004 the production of this aggregate was approximately 21 million tons. Due to environmental reasons and local shortage of this natural resource there exists a goal to reduce the production to 12 million tons in year 2010. READ MORE

  2. 2. Grout Development and Methods for Remedial Grouting of Embankment Dams

    Author : Johan Lagerlund; Jan Laue; Peter Viklander; Markus Aufleger; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Abstract : An embankment dam can be damaged by internal erosion. During this process, the soil material erodes and is transported out of the dam structure. Some common types of damage due to internal erosion are piping, less dense soil zones, and zones where the fine material has been washed out. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plastic Shrinkage Cracking In Concrete : Mitigation and Modelling

    Author : Faez Sayahi; Mats Emborg; Andrzej Cwirzen; Hans Hedlund; Pietro Lura; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Early-age (up to 24 hours after casting) cracking may become problematic in any concrete structure. It can have a negative influence on the aesthetics of the concrete structure, as well as decreasing the durability and serviceability by facilitating the ingress of harmful materials into the concrete bulk. 4. 4. A Quantitative Thermogravimetric Study on the Nonevaporable Water in Mature Silica Fume Concrete: Influence of Carbonation and Moisture Conditions

    Author : Elisabeth Helsing Atlassi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture; carbonation; cement composites; cement; thermogravimetric method;

    Abstract : The primary goal of the project presented here was to study and quantify the influence of materials parameters (cement type, silica fume content, w/c ratio, type and dose of superplasticizers) and environmental parameters (carbonation and moisture history) on the nonevaporable water in hydrated cement composites. In order to achieve this, a thermogravimetric method which separates different types of nonevaporable water (bound in different hydrates and hydroxide) and carbonation products was developed.
