1. Structure-Property Relationships of Surfactants at Interfaces and Polyelectrolyte-Surfactant Aggregates
Abstract : The first part of this thesis is concerned with thestructure-property relationships in nonionic surfactantsystems. The main aim was to investigate how the surfactantstructure influences the adsorption at interfaces andinteractions between surfactant coated interfaces. READ MORE

2. Dynamic Wetting of Solid Surfaces, Influence of Surface Structures and Surface Active Polymers
Abstract : The effect of surface structures on the dynamics of wetting was investigated through measurements of the dynamic contact angle and spreading velocity of oil droplets spreading over surfaces with parallel and gridlike V-shaped channels. A rim of liquid was observed to spread out in the channels ahead of the dropfront after a short time of spreading (seconds). READ MORE

3. Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy Studies at the Air-Liquid Interface
Abstract : In this thesis the structure and hydration of small organic and amphipilic compounds adsorbed at the air-liquid interface, have been studied using the nonlinear optical technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS). The second order nature of the sum frequency process makes this technique particularly surface sensitive and very suitable for interfacial studies, as molecules at the surface can be distinguished even in the presence of a vast excess of the same molecules in the bulk. 4. Theory of microcapillarity. 1, Equilibrium and stability
Abstract : Capillary porous systems. Thermodynamical equilibrium and stability water meniscus. Mathematical treatment. Effect of salts, osmotic pressure. READ MORE

5. Algorithms and Interaction Potentials: phase density, surface tension and carbon dioxide
Abstract : This thesis is an amalgamation of articles (Papers I–V) by the author. We present a perturbation algorithm to calculate the phase density, and thus the partition function including its temperature dependence. READ MORE
