  1. 1. Sources and fluxes of organic contaminants in urban runoff

    Author : Karin Björklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alkylphenols; substance flow analysis; sediment; concentrations in urban matrices; urban runoff quality predictions; source identification; phthalates; stormwater; snow;

    Abstract : Urban runoff quality is recognized as one of the most significant pressures on aquatic ecosystems worldwide. Research into pollutants in urban runoff has traditionally focused on nutrients, suspended solids and metals and consequently knowledge of anthropogenic organic pollutants is limited. READ MORE

  2. 2. Field Measurements and Predictions of River Flow, Sediment Transport and Morphological Changes

    Author : Qiancheng Xie; Staffan Lundström; James Yang; J. Gunnar I. Hellström; Anders G. Andersson; Nils Ruther; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial river; Sediment transport; Morphological change; Meandering; Confluence-diffluence; River training; Field measurements; Numerical simulations; Physical model tests; Machine learning; Alluvial flod; Sedimenttransport; Morfologisk förändring; Slingrande; Konfluens-diffluens; Flodträning; Fältmätningar; Numeriska simuleringar; Fysiska modellprov; Maskininlärning; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : In an alluvial lowland river, sediment is transported in the form of suspended and bed loads. The fluvial process is the macroscopic view and long-term consequence of sediment movement. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dissolved and suspended transport of tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium in natural waters

    Author : Susanne Bauer; Johan Ingri; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tungsten; molybdenum; vanadium; Baltic Sea; redox cycling; suspended particles; boreal rivers; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : Some transition metals and metalloids occur primarily as oxyanions in natural waters including antimony, arsenic, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium. These oxyanions can pass through cell walls along the same pathways as phosphate or sulfate. Some of these oxyanions are essential for life, but in high concentrations they become all toxic. 4. 4. Sediment Characteristics and Sedimentation Rate Estimation in the Dukan Reservoir

    Author : Rebwar Hassan; Nadhir Al-Ansari; Sven Knutsson; Salahalddin S. Ali; Fadhil Ahmed Ameen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Area-storage-capacity curves; Bathymetric survey; Dukan dam; Land use; Reservoir sedimentation; Sediment trap efficiency; SWAT; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : The Dukan Reservoir has been created from the construction of the Dukan Dam on the Lesser Zab River where it crosses the Khalakan Thrust Sheet (Khalakan Mountains) through a gorge 65 km northwest of Sulaimani and 295 km northeast of Baghdad. The Dukan Dam is a multi-purpose dam which was built from 1954 to 1959 to control the flooding of the Lesser Zab River, and to provide irrigation, hydroelectricity, and water storage. READ MORE

  5. 5. Suspended solids and indicator bacteria in stormwater runoff : Sources of bias in field measurements

    Author : Helen Galfi; David Stransky; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Stormwater quality monitoring and control is a prerequisite for sustainable water resources management in urban areas. Stormwater monitoring programs are based on general water sampling guidance and, in the absence of standard procedures, employ various sampling and analytical methods. READ MORE
