  1. 1. Efficient Temporal Reasoning with Uncertainty

    Author : Mikael Nilsson; Patrick Doherty; Jonas Kvarnström; Félix Ingrand; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Temporal Reasoning; Dynamic Controllability; Simple Temporal Network with Uncertainty; Incremental Algorithms; Temporal Networks;

    Abstract : Automated Planning is an active area within Artificial Intelligence. With the help of computers we can quickly find good plans in complicated problem domains, such as planning for search and rescue after a natural disaster. When planning in realistic domains the exact duration of an action generally cannot be predicted in advance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Body movement as material : Designing temporal expressions

    Author : Linnea Bågander; Clemens Thornquist; Lise Amy Hansen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; body; body as material; fashion design; performing arts; temporal form; practice-led research; design methods; motion design; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : Movement and temporal qualities have a significant effect on design expressions. However, in the design of dress these are often overlooked, and the static form of a positioned body is considered to be the main driver of design. This work explores the expressions of the body in motion, engaged in the interaction constituted by wearing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Temporal dynamics of brain plasticity : characterizing brain structural changes during skill acquisition

    Author : Tomás Mediavilla; Daniel Marcellino; Alexandra Badea; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Motor learning; brain plasticity; structural plasticity; magnetic resonance imaging; voxel-based morphometry; tractography; connectivity; motor cortex; posterior parietal cortex; cerebellum; vesicular glutamate transporter;

    Abstract : Traditionally, structural plasticity in the human brain has been considered to follow a linear or asymptotic increase over the course of training. However, recent studies using structural MRI revealed transient increases in grey matter volume (GMV) with learning. READ MORE

  4. 4. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity

    Author : Olga Kochukhova; Claes Von Hofsten; Richard Aslin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Psychology; infants; occlusion; incomplete visual information; saccadic gaze shifts; smooth pursuit; temporal; spatial; object representation; learning; extrapolation; Psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) .
