  1. 1. Stimulation of tendon repair by platelet concentrate, CDMP-2 and mechanical loading in animal models

    Author : Olena Virchenko; Per Aspenberg; Jon Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; injuries; physiology; Blood platelets; tendon injuries; physiopathology; therapy; wound healing; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Abstract : Growth factor delivery may be useful to accelerate the rate of tendon healing. We studied Platelet Concentrate, which in effect can be regarded as a cocktail of growth factors relevant for tendon healing. READ MORE

    Author : Abdul Alim; Magnus Peterson; Gunnar Pejler; Per Kristiansson; Paul W. Ackermann; Gustav Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tendon Healing; Pain; Biomarkers; Mast Cells; Inflammation; Microdialysis; Neurotransmitters; Glutamate Receptors; Procollagen; Transcriptional factors; Biology with specialization in Molecular Immunology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär immunologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : Tendon injuries and tendinopathy are common disorders, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. The overall aim of this thesis was to better understand the mechanisms underlying tendon healing, pain, and inflammation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Intrasynovial flexor tendon injuries and repair

    Author : Sara Edsfeldt; Monica Wiig; Kenneth Jonsson; Lars Adolfsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Complications after surgical repair of intrasynovial flexor tendon injuries in the hand occur despite advanced suture techniques and structured postoperative rehabilitation regimens. Early controlled tendon mobilization prevents adhesion formations and improves tendon healing as well as digit range of motion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Towards surgical use of matrix metalloproteinase biology

    Author : Björn Pasternak; Per Aspenberg; Pentti Tengvall; Yrjö T Konttinen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; colon; tetracyclines; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases TIMP ; wound healing.; colorectal surgery; extracellular matrix; humans; matrix metalloproteinases MMPs ; rats; surgical anastomosis; sutures; tendon injuries; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Abstract : Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as collagenases, are a family of enzymes capable of degrading most constituents of the extracellular matrix. MMPs are thought to be involved in the aetiopathogenesis of tendon rupture. Additionally, failure of healing has in some instances been associated with elevated levels of MMPs. READ MORE
