  1. 1. Communication in the context of acute pain : Persuasion or validation?

    Author : Johan Carstens Söderstrand; Steven Linton; Katja Boersma; Tamar Pincus; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Acute pain; communication; validation; reassurance; expectations for recovery; catastrophizing; recall; misdirected problem solving; psycho-logical flexibility;

    Abstract : Historically, the dominating theoretical framework for communication in the context of acute pain is reassurance. 2. 2. Definition and validation of requirements management measures

    Author : Annabella Loconsole; Jürgen Börstler; Björn Regnell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Requirement; Measures; Volatility; Theoretical Validation; Empirical Validation; Prediction Model; Correlational Study; Subjective Estimation.; Software engineering; Programvaruteknik;

    Abstract : The quality of software systems depends on early activities in the software development process, of which the management of requirements is one. When requirements are not managed well, a project can fail or become more costly than intended, and the quality of the software developed can decrease. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distress, Emotional reactivity and Fatigue following Breast Cancer : A Theoretical Approach and a Randomised Intervention Study

    Keywords : Breast cancer; randomised intervention study; Group vs. individual therapy; Oncological rehabilitation; cognitive processing; validation; Caring Sciences; Vårdvetenskap;

    Abstract : Aim: Overall aims were to evaluate a stress management intervention with a stepped care approach among women with breast cancer and to explore distress, emotional reactivity and fatigue, both using a theoretical approach and self-reported assessment.Methods: A total of 821 women were approached, 372 women rejected participation, 23 women failed to return the questionnaire and one died, hence, 425 patients (52%) accepted participation. 4. 4. The institutionalisation of validation and the transformation of vocational knowledge : The case of admission into Vocational Teacher Education in Sweden

    Author : Maria C. Johansson; Per Lindqvist; Lazaro Moreno Herrera; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; agency; competence; institutional arrangements; institutional conditions; institutionalisation; validation; vocational knowledge; qualification framework; Pedagogics and Educational Sciences; Pedagogik och Utbildningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to understand the validation of vocational knowledge prior to entry into vocational teacher education in Sweden with regard to conceptions and understandings of vocational knowledge, and also to understand how institutional conditions, such as ideas of how to organise validation, influence the content and form of the validation practice. From this aim the following research questions were developed: What ideas about the organisation of validation stand out in the policy and practice of validation? What conceptions and understandings of vocational knowledge is the organisation of validation built on and what do they entail? Who has the agency to describe and decide upon vocational knowledge in the policy and practice of validation? What institutional arrangements appear in the practice of validation?To conduct the studies in the thesis a multimethods approach was adopted, combining policy analysis and interviews. READ MORE

  5. 5. Development and Validation of HPLC Methods for Analytical and Preparative Purposes

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the development and validation of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods aimed for two industrially important areas: (i) analysis of biotechnological synthesis and (ii) determination of adsorption isotherm parameters. There is today a lack of detailed recommendations for analytical procedures in the field of biotechnological production of drugs. READ MORE
