1. The Analysis of Thermal Power Stations and their Interaction with the Power System using Simulator Test Methods
Abstract : This thesis describes a new method of testing power stations with regard to their frequency control behaviour and analyses results obtained using this new method. The test concept is based on that the power station unit to be tested remains synchronized onto its normal strong network, whereas the frequency control behaviour is set up to be that of the conditions if the unit was working on a much smaller network, using a computer based simulator system and feeding simulated control signals to the input of the units frequency control system. 2. System Aspects and Modulation Strategies of an HVDC-based Converter System for Wind Farms
Abstract : In this thesis, a new HVDC-based converter system for wind farms is investigated. It is based on a mutually commutated soft-switching converter system and provides a unique integrated solution for the wind turbine generator drive systems, the wind turbine interconnection, and the power conversion for HVDC transmission. 3. GaN HEMT Low Noise Amplifiers for Radio Base Station Receivers
Abstract : Gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) has been introduced as the technology of choice for high power microwave applications due to its material properties including high saturation electron velocity and breakdown field together with excellent thermal conductivity and robustness. It is also a promising candidate for receiver front-ends in the radio base station(RBS) where low noise figure and high linearity are key issues for low noiseamplifier (LNA) design. 4. Inherent Safety Features and Passive Prevention Approaches for Pb/Bi-cooled Accelerator-Driven Systems
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of passivesafety and inherent features of subcritical nucleartransmutation systems - accelerator-driven systems. The generalobjective of this research has been to improve the safetyperformance and avoid elevated coolant temperatures inworst-case scenarios like unprotected loss-of-ow accidents,loss-of-heat-sink accidents, and a combination of both theseaccident initiators. 5. Radio Resource Sharing in Hierarchical Cellular Systems
Abstract : Hierarchical Cell Structures (HCSs) is generally believed tobe a solution to capacity problems of future mobilecommunication systems. In such systems we have a mix of cellsizes that handle different types of traffic. We can have largecells providing wide area coverage and small cells providinghigh capacity. READ MORE
