    Abstract : Studies on Fantasmical Anatomies is an ongoing transdisciplinary artistic research, which encompasses the spectrum of experiences and practices that I have developed as a choreographer, dancer and Feldenkrais practitioner. My interest in anatomy and somatic practices grew out of multiple shoulder dislocations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Brain Aromatase in the guppy, Poecilia reticulata : Distribution, control and role in behaviour

    Author : Stefan Hallgren; Håkan Olsén; Bertil Borg; Julie Bakker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oestrogen production; behaviour; anatomy; endocrinology; bio markers; endocrine disruption; Organism biology; Organismbiologi; funktionell morfologi; Functional Zoomorphology; Biology;

    Abstract : Oestrogens are produced by aromatisation of androgens by the aromatase enzyme. In the vertebrate brain this synthesis has vital functions in nerve protection, cell proliferation and nerve development during injury respectively brain development. READ MORE

  3. 3. The neuronal and non-neuronal substance P, VIP and cholinergic systems in the colon in ulcerative colitis

    Author : Maria Jönsson; Sture Forsgren; Örjan Norrgård; Johan D Söderholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ulcerative colitis; neuropeptides; substance P; VIP; non-neuronal cholinergic system; Anatomy; Anatomi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory bowel disease. Neuropeptides, especially vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and substance P (SP), have long been considered to play key roles in UC. Among other effects, these neuropeptides have trophic and growth-modulating as well as wound-healing effects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neuropeptides and neurotrophins in arthritis : studies on the human and mouse knee joint

    Author : Ola Grimsholm; Sture Forsgren; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Elvar Theodorsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropeptides; neurotrophins; bombesin gastrin-releasing peptide; substance P; brain-derived neurotrophic factor; synovial tissue; knee joint; rheumatoid arthritis; Anatomy; Anatomi;

    Abstract : Neuropeptides, such as substance P (SP) and bombesin/gastrin-releasing peptide (BN/GRP), and neurotrophins are involved in neuro-immunomodulatory processes and have marked trophic, growth-promoting and inflammation-modulating properties. The impact of these modulators in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is, however, unclear. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aspects of aqueous humor dynamics : Studies in vivo and in vitro

    Author : Maria Samuelsson-Almén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; Aqneous humor flow; intraocular pressure; adenylate cyclase; nonpigmented ciliary epithelium; pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; dopamine; prostaglandin; Fysiologi och anatomi; Physiology and pharmacology; Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of PGF2α-l-isopropylester, some neuropeptides, and pharmacological agents on aqueous humor dynamics and intraocular pressure (IOP) in vivo and on adenylate cyclase activity in the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPE) in vitro.Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) caused a dose-dependent increase in cAMP formation, indicating that the NPE contains receptors for PACAP and VIP coupled to adenylate cyclase activation.
