1. Hypergeometric functions in several complex variables
Abstract : This thesis deals with hypergeometric functions in several complex variables and systems of partial differential equations of hypergeometric type. One of the main objects of study in the thesis is the so-called Horn system of equations: xiPi(θ)y(x) = Qi(θ)y(x), i = 1, ... READ MORE

2. Combinatorial Methods in Complex Analysis
Abstract : The theme of this thesis is combinatorics, complex analysis and algebraic geometry. The thesis consists of six articles divided into four parts.Part A: Spectral properties of the Schrödinger equationThis part consists of Papers I-II, where we study a univariate Schrödinger equation with a complex polynomial potential. 3. Reordering in Noncommutative Algebras, Orthogonal Polynomials and Operators
Abstract : The main object studied in this thesis is the multi-parametric family of unital associative complex algebras generated by the element $Q$ and the finite or infinite set $\{S_j\}_{j\in J}$ of elements satisfying the commutation relations $S_jQ=\sigma_j(Q)S_j$, where $\sigma_j$ is a polynomial for all $j\in J$. A concrete representation is given by the operators $Q_x(f)(x)=xf(x)$ and $\alpha_{\sigma_j}(f)(x)=f(\sigma_j(x))$ acting on polynomials or other suitable functions. READ MORE

4. Random and optimal configurations in complex function theory
Abstract : This thesis consists of six articles spanning over several areas of mathematical analysis. The dominant theme is the study of random point processes and optimal point configurations, which may be though of as systems of charged particles with mutual repulsion. READ MORE

5. Topics in polynomial sequences defined by linear recurrences
Abstract : This licentiate consists of two papers treating polynomial sequences defined by linear recurrences. In paper I, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the reality of all the zeros in a polynomial sequence {P_i} generated by a three-term recurrence relation P_i(x)+ Q_1(x)P_{i-1}(x) +Q_2(x) P_{i-2}(x)=0 with the standard initial conditions P_{0}(x)=1, P_{-1}(x)=0, where Q_1(x) and Q_2(x) are arbitrary real polynomials.
