    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcriptome reconstruction; transcriptome assembly; transcript isoform detection; Picea abies; acrocona; cone setting; differential expression; gene families; miRNA; quality assessment; transkriptomrekonstruktion; sammansättning av transkriptom; detektering av transkriptisoform; rödgran; kottegran; kottsättning; differentiellt uttryck; genfamiljer; kvalitetsutvärdering; miRNA; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. When a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, a de novo transcriptome assembly is the transcriptome reconstruction approach of choice, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily give all theinformation concerning splice junctions, isoforms or even the full extent of the gene. 2. 2. Computer Vision Based Analysis of Animal Behavior

    Author : Tobias Palmér; Mathematical Imaging Group; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datorseende; bildanalys; djurbeteende; neurofysiologi; tillämpningar; refraktion; Computer vision; animal tracking; behavioral analysis; refractions; underwater images; relative pose;

    Abstract : The behavior of animals is commonly studied in medicine and biology. There is a large variation in what animals are studied, in experimental paradigms and purpose.However, many studies on animal behavior have at least one thing in common - it typically involves measuring or studying the kinematics of the animal. Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies in a rather narrow subfield of Artificial Intelligence. As any beloved child, it has many names. The most common ones are Vector Symbolic Architectures and Hyperdimensional Computing. READ MORE

  4. 4. PET in Heart Failure - Methods and Applications

    Author : Jens Sörensen; Göran Hedenstierna; Elisabeth Ståhle; Bengt Långström; Juhani Knuuti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; congestive heart failure; myocardial ischemia; positron emission tomography; left ventricular dysfunction; tracer kinetic models; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) permits regional myocardial perfusion, fibrosis and oxidative metabolism to be non-invasively quantified with radioactive tracers such as [15O]-water and [1-11C]-acetate. PET is an established research tool in congestive heart failure (CHF), a major cause of morbidity and mortality. READ MORE

  5. 5. Covalent functionalization of carbon nanomaterials for bioelectrochemical applications

    Author : Naoual Allali; Alexander Soldatov; Manuel Dossot; Victor Mamane; Silvia Giordani; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Experimentell fysik; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes (CTNs) are renowned for their exceptional electronic and mechanical properties. Their structure can be considered as rolling up a graphene sheet along a specific crystallographic direction, leading to a 1D confinement of the electronic wavefunction of the delocalized electrons along the perimeter of the cylindrical structure thus obtained.
