  1. 1. Learning Methods for Antenna Tilt Optimization

    Author : Filippo Vannella; Alexandre Proutiere; Erik G. Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The increasing complexity of modern mobile networks poses unprecedented challenges to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). MNOs need to utilize network resources optimally to satisfy the growing demand of network users in a reliable manner. READ MORE

  2. 2. Towards Active Car Body Suspension in Railway Vehicles

    Author : Jessica Fagerlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Decoupling; Model reduction; Active suspension; MIMO systems; LQ control;

    Abstract : Today, most railway suspension systems are passive. The most wide-spread exception isactive car body tilt systems, which are mounted in some high-speed trains. Replacingsome of the passive suspension components with active could reduce the weight and costof the vehicle. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanics and acoustics of violin bowing : Freedom, constraints and control in performance

    Author : Erwin Schoonderwaldt; Anders Askenfelt; Knut Guettler; Jim Woodhouse; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; bow-string interaction; bowed string; violin playing; motion capture; bowing parameters; performance control; Other physics; Övrig fysik; Music; Musikvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses sound production in bowed-string instruments from two perspectives: the physics of the bowed string, and bow control in performance. Violin performance is characterized by an intimate connection between the player and the instrument, allowing for a continuous control of the sound via the main bowing parameters (bow velocity, bow force and bow-bridge distance), but imposing constraints as well. 4. 4. Radioastronomy Instrumentation for Herschel and APEX Projects

    Author : Miroslav Pantaleev; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; beam measurements; quasioptics; optical alignment; submillimeter; HEB mixer;

    Abstract : This thesis presents work done in developing instrumentation for sub-mm radio astronomyprojects.The first part covers Gaussian beam measurements for the Heterodyne Instrument for Far-Infrared (HIFI) of the Herschel Space Observatory project by the European Space Agency. READ MORE

  5. 5. Embedded Measurement Systems

    Author : Lars Bengtsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microcontroller; measurement system; direct sensor-to-controller; time-to-digital converter; phase detector; lock-in amplifier;

    Abstract : The subject of Embedded Measurement Systems (EMS) is the merging of embedded systems and electrical measurement systems. This indicates that EMSs are hardware-software systems dedicated to measuring one or a few physical quantities. READ MORE
