  1. 1. Dynamics and Extreme Value Problems for Moored Floating Platforms

    Author : Yungang Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quasi-static; frequency-domain; extreme value; convolution; floating platform; low-frequency; time-domain; mooring cable; wave-frequency;

    Abstract : This research deals with the dynamic response analyses and extreme value problems of moored floating platforms. It can be divided into three major subjects: first, the analysis of single cables and cable induced mooring damping; second, the dynamic analysis of the moored platforms, with special emphasis on the damping mechanisms and generation of the low-frequency excitation force time series; and third, the extreme wave-frequency responses and the combination of the low-frequency and wave-frequency extreme responses. 2. 2. Techniques for Localization of Insulation Degradation along Medium-Voltage Power Cables

    Author : Ruslan Papazyan; Roland Eriksson; Fred Steennis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical power technology; Attenuation measurement; cross-linked polyethylene insulation; discontinuities; localization; mass-impregnated insulation; numerical analysis; parameter estimation; power cable metallic screen; scattering parameters; time domain reflectometry; velocity measurements; water treeing; Elkraftteknik; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) has been used for localization of transmission line discontinuities in diverse applications. Various challenges have to be addressed when applying TDR for localization of insulation degradation in power cables. READ MORE

  3. 3. On-line time domain reflectometry diagnostics of medium voltage XLPE power cables

    Author : Valentinas Dubickas; Roland Eriksson; Tord Bengtsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : Degradation of XLPE insulated power cables by water-trees is a primary cause of failure of these cables. The detection of water-trees and information about the severity of the degradation can be obtained with off-line measurement using dielectric spectroscopy. In many situations only a limited part of the cable may be degraded by the water-trees. READ MORE

  4. 4. Time and Frequency Domain Measurement Methods for High Frequency Characterisation of Power Cables

    Author : Ruslan Papazyan; KTH; []
    Keywords : Attenuation measurement; XLPE insulation; Power cables;

    Abstract : Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) has been used forlocalisation of transmission line discontinuities in variousapplications. One of the challenges when applying TDR on powercables is to obtain knowledge of the high frequencycharacteristics of both the degraded and the undegradedsections of the cable. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electromagnetic noise generated in the electrified railway propulsion system

    Author : Kelin Jia; Rajeev Thottappillil; Hans Bängtsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electromagnetic compatibility; railway; propulsion system; shielded cable; transmission line; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport;

    Abstract : The electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problem in the railway propulsion system is a significant safety issue of high concern. The problems can be caused by any part of the propulsion system as well as any combination of the sub systems. Simulation is a fast economical way to understand the system and to predict the EMC performance. READ MORE
