  1. 1. The Impact of Hydrocarbon and Carbon Oxide Impuritiesin the Hydrogen Feed of a PEM Fuel Cell

    Author : Katrin Kortsdottir; Rakel Wreland Lindström; Göran Lindbergh; Tanja Kallio; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel Cell; Hydrogen Impurities; Carbon Monoxide; Carbon Dioxide; Ethene; Propene; Methane; Propane; Toluene; Electrochemically Active Surface Area; Cyclic Voltammetry; Mass Spectrometry; bränslecell; vätgasföroreningar; kolmonoxid; koldioxid; eten; propen; metan; propan; toluen; elektrokemisk aktiv yta; cyklisk voltammetri; masspektrometri; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The proton exchange membrane fuel cell generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen (from air) through electrocatalytic reactions in an electrochemical cell. The Pt/C catalyst, commonly used in PEM fuel cells, is very sensitive to impurities that can interact with the active catalyst sites and limit fuel cell performance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Automatic Analysis and Reduction of Reaction Mechanisms for Complex Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Nilsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydraulik; Complex fuel combustion; Reduced kinetic models; skeletal mechanism; QSSA; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; vacuum technology; Maskinteknik; vibration and acoustic engineering; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Nilsson;

    Abstract : This work concentrates on automatic procedures for simplifying chemical models for realistic fuels using skeletal mechanism construction and Quasi Steady-State Approximation (QSSA) applied to detailed reaction mechanisms. To automate the selection of species for removal or approximation, different indices for species ranking have thus been proposed. READ MORE

  3. 3. A new technique to assess dermal absorption of chemical vapor in vitro by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)

    Author : Matias Rauma; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : There is a huge lack of dermal uptake data for chemicals, and it is frequent with large variations in reported permeability coefficients for chemicals with more than one data set, showing the need for a new and standardized in vitro method. The overall aim of this thesis was to develop the new method of measuring dermal absorption of chemical vapor using the TGA method. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pyrolysis and Detoxification of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for Feedstock Recycling

    Author : Panagiotis Evangelopoulos; Weihong Yang; Efthymios Kantarelis; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pyrolysis; WEEE; solvent extraction; brominated flame retardants; Tetrabromobisphenol A; Auger reactor; Πυρόλυση; ΑΗΗΕ; εκχύλιση με διαλύτη; βρωμιωμένα επιβραδυντικά φλόγας; Τετραβρωμοδιφαινόλη Α; Pyrolys; WEEE; lösningsmedelsextraktion; bromerade flamskyddsmedel; tetrabrombisfenol A; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The trends in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generation shows that their volume constantly increases, while the current waste management technologies have proven to be insufficient in order to meet the strict criteria and the new legislations of the European Union. Pyrolysis and thermal treatment in general could be a valuable solution for closing the loop of materials and could contribute to the energy demands of modern society. READ MORE
