  1. 1. Influencing factors of orthodontic tooth movement and root resorption, and evaluation of its radiographic diagnostic means

    Author : Alexander Dudic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontic tooth movement; orthodontically induced root resorption; radiologic evaluation of root resorption;

    Abstract : Aims: To investigate whether patient- or tooth-related factors like jaw location or intra- and interarch obstacles influence the amount of orthodontic tooth movement and orthodontically induced root resorption, and to evaluate if the concept of slow and fast movers is valid in humans. Furthermore, to evaluate the validity of different radiographic methods for detecting root resorption. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Origin of Tooth Replacement : Three-dimensional Synchrotron Histology Visualizes the Dental Development of Silurian Stem Osteichthyans

    Author : Donglei Chen; Per Ahlberg; Zerina Johanson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Mechanisms of tooth replacement distribute incongruently among extant gnathostomes (jawed vertebrates): a permanent tooth-generating dental lamina exists in chondrichthyans (cartilaginous fish) and tetrapods but not teleosts, whereas tooth shedding by basal hard tissue resorption occurs in tetrapods and teleosts but not chondrichthyans. Theories about the evolution of tooth development have been biased towards the chondrichthyan conveyor-belt replacement, since there has been no fossil evidence for the origin of osteichthyan (bony fish and tetrapods) tooth replacement until now. 3. 3. Ridge alterations following tooth extraction and implant placement

    Author : Giuseppe Cardaropoli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present series of investigations was to study the healing following tooth extraction and implant placement. In an animal model, the healing sequence of tooth extraction sites (Study I), the influence of the periodontal ligament (PDL) on the healing of extraction sockets and the effect of various biomaterial on the healing of bone defects (Study II), and the healing of different bone block grafts placed on the surface of a narrow ridge (Study III) were investigated. 4. 4. Radiographic imaging in relation to the mandibular third molar : tooth characteristics, modality choice, optimization, and absorbed dose

    Author : Josefine Cederhag; Kristina Hellén-Halme; Henrik Lund; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Radiographic imaging of the mandibular third molar (M3) is a valuable diagnostic tool. It provides information on tooth position, root morphology, and relations to surrounding anatomical structures that facilitates diagnosis and treatment planning. READ MORE

  5. 5. Autogenous free tooth transplantation with a two-stage operation technique

    Author : Gunnar Nethander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : If tooth transplantation is to succeed, it is crucial to preserve the vitality of the cells on the root surface of the tooth transplant. Insufficient nutrition, postoperatively, to the cells on the root surface of the tooth transplant was thought to contribute to devitalisation of these cells. READ MORE
